Took my first long road trip in my Model 3 SR LFP (850 miles one way) recently. Didn't find that I needed more range. We ended up having to stop way before I ran out of juice to either eat, stretch, or go to the restroom.
Wow! So helpful. You are both such wonderful communicators. I plan on buying a Highland next Fall so this review was very helpful. I'm not crazy about no stalk but I will adjust as other Tesla owners have done.
If possible, please make a video on Model Y LFP like this. I am sure many people including me wants to know its efficiency and real world range comparing Model 3 LFP to make some decisions.
I purchased my M3RWD back in June built in Fremont. Driven little over 7k miles with no issues with built quality. Took one trip from San Jose to Las Vegas with no range anxiety whatsoever.
Here in Ohio not only do they have zero state incentives to purchase an EV, they charge EV owners an extra $200 a year just for owning one. Hybrid owners are charged an extra $100 a year. You can tell what political party runs the state.
It is similar in TX, but I think the extra taxes on EV registration goes to the DOT for road maintenance. Since you r not purchasing any gas, the tax part of the price that goes to road maintenance needs to be recovered somehow, hence the extra 200 dollars/ year. IMHO i don't mind it, it is paying my fair share to maintain roads.
@@guccisasha But in Ohio they also tax electricity with a kilowatt hour tax paid by the utility and passed onto the consumer via electricity rates, so Im already being taxed on my “fuel”. And the $200 a year EV fee in addition to that and a flat fee and not mileage based. Definitely could have been done in better ways.
@@Weezedog Agreed it should be mileage based. VA has a Highway Use fee for ANY car that is better than 24 mpg. So my 2017 Nissan Rogue has about a $15 fee added each year. They take a "base" car that gets 24mpg and travels 11,600 miles and compute the gas tax that car would pay. Everyone else pays the difference. And if you travel under 11,600 miles, they have a program for you only to pay for the miles you drive. No one will pay for driving over 11,600 miles. It is a pretty fair deal, IMO.
@@Weezedog Yes the political party that is America first not the libs who are America last. Hundreds of millions of dollars for 2 wars and $700 per family for Hawaii. FJB!!!
In TX, in addition to the $200 EV fee, they also got rid of vehicle inspections in most rural / suburban counties and redirected the $7.5 fee to the highway fund. Looks like they were hunting for additional highway money and did not want to raise the gas tax.
Yes, we're in Colorado. In my opinion, AWD is not necessary unless you plan on doing a lot of driving in deep snow or ice. Even then, it's a nice thing to have, but it doesn't help you with stopping or turning. A good set of winter tires will go a long way.
Most roads get cleared pretty quick, unless you live in a remote area. High quality All Seasons like Pirelli Scorpions or dedicated winter tires for ultimate peace of mind are recommended though
We have a 2022 RWD Model 3 and bought it gently used from a local VW dealership we bought our VW ID4 from. We charge mostly from home but have road tripped the 3 all the way to Breckenride,CO from Indio,CA and it was super easy. We've only put about 10k miles on it so far but it's been stellar. No breakdowns of any kind and have only had Tesla Mobile Service out once to do a cabin filter swap and condenser cleaning. The car is comfortable, quiet, fast and the LFP battery makes it such an easy EV to live with. I can't recommend the RWD Model 3 with the LFP battery enough for anyone wanting an easy EV experience.
Isn't the 272 mile range for combined and not hwy only? We all know the epa range procedure needs higher average speeds to make more sense. But you guys are ev reviewers and should be noting this imo. The combined max range figure isn't for hwy only! Example rivian and Ford are 8-12% lower for hwy only driving ranges vs the qouted combined range on the sticker. 🤔
2023 LFP here. No no issues for me. The build quality is great. I did a short 120-mile round trip (city/ HWY combined) and the range I got after leaving at 100% was 266. Best car I've ever had.
@ocman11 .....yes....it's the model Y that was/is in question. I'm not a fan of the Y, so I tend to let news related to that platform go in 1 ear and out the other. I'm a forum member, and I'm currently dealing with an issue with my 2014 MS, so I was on the forums this weekend. I stumbled on a thread while mindlessly searching that was questioning this very topic. It doesn't seem as though Tesla has given an answer as of yet. But the base 3 is definitely an LFP.
