This video helped me a lot with the wire connections. Thank you. I was able to figure out the panels with some help from other videos as well. Amazed that these speakers are there but not activated.

What year is your car? Mines 2020 and I managed to turn on 4 speakers not 6. I see grills in the far back but maybe they are empty?

Link in the description for newer models. From my understanding not as many speakers are activated. Tesla likely started removing them as production changed.

Look at the sticker by the driver's door. It should have a month/ year on it. It's right by the tire sticker in the door frame

Hmmm. I have a 2020 Model 3SR+ from July. I wonder if it is worth it for 4 speakers still. Unfortunately, no rear speakers.

I have a five week old model y. Those six speakers were working when i first got the car but stopped. Could they disable them through software? The two in each door and the two on the hatchback suddenly stopped!!!

I did this with my 2020 model 3 and got the 4 door pillars working and was well worth it, I was a fiddly job and looking at RU-vid videos to make sure I was doing it right.

I’m confused so the speakers are already there ? It just tapping into the harness to make them work? Or is it tapping into different functions those speakers are actually used for

Speakers are actually there. You are tapping into the wiring harness to activate them. They started to remove deck lid ones in 2020 I think. But the other ones are still there.

Very tempting. I really would like better sound but I'm worried I'll screw it up and break something or not be able to put it back together. What year is your car? I've heard not all versions of the car have speakers located where you trying to add sound. Actually no need to answer as I watched it again and I see the note inside the box that says "4 speakers post July 2020". I think my car might be July 2020.

One thing I’m worried about is activating them will give me more treble / mids and mute the bass as that only comes from the soundbar as we don’t have a sub in these cars. Thoughts?

I think it should have an opposite effect. Since the treble is more represented with speakers meant for it, it should free up the mids in the doors to give a bit more low freq response. But I'm taking liberties guessing how the crossover works. I'm gonna do this in my 2023 M3 RWD and it should be ok. I can use the little EQ if needed.

No wires were cut. Plug and play so warranty remains. I cranked it a couple times and it went into protect mode. Now I know 😏

Wait which version of Model 3 dont have speakers activated? Why did tesla produce cars with some speakers as duds or rather, not activated?

Likely it was due to cost and the factory line set up to already put them in. Tesla did some weird things to create new models to fit in with government rebates etc.

Depending on the year you could have up to six speakers. It uses the factory amp still.

I doubt it will void warranty for the entire car. Maybe for speakers issues you’re screwed if something happens.

Yes link in description for newer years. Less speakers were put in at factory. So not all speakers are there now.

Put your ear on the pillar ones to see if they are. You will know and hear them.

If this part fails Tesla obviously wouldn’t warranty it, but for a manufacturer void warranty over a mod, the mod has to be the cause of the issue.

Did anyone get error codes saying to replace the 12v battery? Just installed mine in a 2020 sr+ and getting that issue

2020 seems a little early to have to replace the 12 volt battery. They should be good for about 4 years. You can book an appointment using your app and they can check it out.

I haven't done any mods to my 2020 m3. At 46k miles I got that notification and tesla came out and changed my battery

If you don't have the subwoofer in your trunk, you likely don't have the external amplifier.

To simplify production they make as little hardware differences as necessary and software lock instead.

@@woodyalexander6 it’s to simplify production. Not every component is shipped on LR and SR. For example the fog lights are only on LR. Also, there is one subwoofer that isn’t shipped on SR. Essentially they figured out the components that make sense to keep on both and software lock and the ones that don’t. Heated rear seats were another example. They shipped the components in the SR but software locked them for years until 2022.

Want everyone to know no Tesla didn’t create a software update to block your hanshow harness that’s all bullshit..one still sound clear to this day an now I’m going to install a aftermarket subwoofer from nvx in my rwd 22 model 3!!
