Actually physics explains it completely. Taycan is 2 speeds, so it has both a torque and top speed advantage, but also a complexity, weight, efficiency disadvantage.
@@springer-qb4dv Under delivering? Seeing your Tesla stocks rise from $490 to over $2000/share in merely 6 months ain't "under delivering" in my book 😉 Besides, this here is precisely achieving the goal that Tesla set from the begining; to get them gasoline/diesel vehicle manufacturers to create a serious all-ectric vehicle. Porsche now holds the crown, and will only be getting more manufacturers riled up to own that crown, even Tesla themselves with the upcoming Roadster...
@@MrElectrifyer @Karvaneperse Being a shareholder and being a car owner are OBVIOUSLY different things. It's such an obvious fact that I highly doubt you are even old enough or rich enough to own any stocks lmfao. It's common knowledge that tesla cars are badly built (ie. panel gaps like 1960s British Leyland, unpainted, bare metal visible all over the car, all sorts of issues with rainwater, lying to Chinese market about using old ECU, model S randomly going into limp mode, etc etc and etc) and perform substandard to cars made by real automakers. Hyundai make a better economy EV (Kona ev 1000km world record), Porsche obviously make a better performance EV, and Jaguar make an overall better package and MUCH more attractive design and drive (I-Pace) compared to these ugly-ass briefcases on wheels.
Anthony Smith dragtimes did it on a public road and 3-4 people were sitting in one car, it wasn’t professional at all. Also they didn’t manage to launch at the same time in each run so one of these cars always had a head start so the result wasn’t accurate. Further they had no actual times recorded, drag times did it only for entertainment purpose.
@James Lilian everybody join Mrs Florence and give your money to someone you don't know about an investment you don't know anything about you'll certainly become rich
Two speed gearbox, non-fade reproducibility of launches, quality beautiful interior - of course, it was going to be the Porsche. After test driving the S three times, the X once and the 3 once - I couldn’t bring myself to get a Tesla no matter how much I wanted to. After almost a six month wait, my 4S is due for delivery next month - happy days!
nope, not the launch, you can only push so much amps through a system at a given moment, but aerodynamics is what is at play here ... Tesla is much more energy efficient but that is it, Porsche is truly a masterpiece in regards to engineering an automotive frame and body and it seems even battery cooling and fast charging. If they improve on efficiency they will dominate the electric luxury car world.
Actually, the Taycan runs out of power first, so the Tesla would overtake it 'eventually' anyway. Not sure that's much of a race though, maybe endurance? 😅
Bavarian Car Enthusiast so you agree on the fact that without charging you can’t reach your destination, that means an old ICE diesel would take you on a long journey in the fasted way! but thats not the point, its about fun driving, just buy yourself a GT3 RS and get done with it
I will probably never buy any of those cars. But why would you want a the Taycan in the first place it's just unnecessary to have that much acceleration. The same for the tesla, why would I buy a performance Model when range is obviously more important than acceleration. I really don't get the use of drag races

@@MrSpuzzz he did, Elon made the patent for some EV shit free if I'm not mistaken so competition would easily grow. Mercedes is doing well too with their EQS, it seems more luxurious.
It's funny how Tesla's image is so tied to Elon Musk. I don't even know who the CEO of Porsche is. The brand is far bigger than anyone there apparently.
Hope that "Deutsche ingenieurskunst" can come up with something to match the Plaid+ S or Roadster lol. But seriously the Taycan is still a super cool car
It's Porsche engineering, let's not pretend non-Porsche German engineering is all good...I mean, Audi just released their "incredible" new S6 which puts out less power than an 8 year old Lexus hybrid (and the Lexus gets much better economy). Still, there's a reason I own a Porsche ☺
It's Porsche engineering. Hope that its VW/Audi masters stay out and avoid giving every Porsche that Audi 5 second (emissions?) delay on every fast pedal press.
@@Dukeofvampires1 Taycan gives you almost 400 miles in recent Bjorn test, while heavier than Tesla, much wider tyre with lower air pressure and has much less usable battery capacity

Ya I don’t think most people understand how fast a low 10 sec car is. its one thing to watch videos its another to experience it. We all win from the hp wars.
We all knew this was coming... Porsche always acts like they arrived at a gun fight with nothing but a knife; It then turns out the knife shoots missiles.

@@alinmustata Nope. In fact it's range is only a bit less than the Model S. www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a30874032/porsche-taycan-range-test-tesla-model-s/
The Tesla manages to have a quicker start, while also managing to be just a tiny fraction of a second slower at the finish line, all that while it costs waaaaaay less and is an overall much better car. If Tesla added 40k euro to the price of the Model S it would also beat the Porsche in the drag race. What you have to realize is that the Model S is a high end Sedan that happens to also be faster than almost every car out there. Even most super cars. The Taycan is specifically designed to be a sports car, is way more expensive and still loses to the Tesla at lift-off, and beats in by just a tiny fraction of a second to the finish line. The true test will be putting the Taycan against the new Roadster when it comes out. Because it will cost close to being hat the Taycan costs. And the Roadster will just destroy the Taycan.
Ganz ehrlich die Autos lassen sich nicht vergleichen. Ich würde 10 von 10 den Porsche bevorzugen einfach weil ich ihn innen und außen 1000 Mal schöner finde

Porsche is amazing, but you get more for you money if you go for the Tesla. If money is no issue and you just want a fast car, then yes, Porsche is your car.
@@imransafi5314 Lol, 1000hp will beat 1000hp ferrari sf90 and Porsche taycan if it had 1000hp. You have to be over 9 years old to understand what Tesla did to go from 825hp to 1020hp - double the cooling system (no overheating like taycan on track or old model s), give the new tech for the motors that can do over 20k rpm while still delivering over 1000hp at like 200mph with top speed that is over 220mph (basically shows how bad is the Porsches two speed gearbox) and also still has 8 years warranty on motors and battery.
This is why Tesla is winning, if Taycan is slightly better will crush all their petrol models, so Porche has two options when plaid is out. Keep losing all day or go full electric. BMW also used a two gear transmission in the i8, so a transmission seems to make sense in an EV. But the most important feature of the Porsche is the 800V technology, which requires less amps and generates less heat. It would be interesting to compare the Taycan and the Model S simultaneously in a stress test - which overheats first and shuts down? Will the Taycan ever shut down before it runs flat?

Why? Plaid does 0-60 in 2.5s, what would be the point? Unless you mean that drag race mode(below 2s - 0-60) Plaid has, where it takes 10 minutes to engage it :)))
Tesla is older and a family car, Porsche is (also 4-door but) more of a sports car, newer and more expensive. So I think the Tesla is doing an amazing job! :-D Porsche is a cool tho. Love them both, so no hate. Ps, try it again with the new 1020hp Model S. :-D
Porsche overpriced and overstressed batteries will die out sooner. All these corporates were laughing at Tesla when it started. Now see where Tesla is.
Personally, love both cars but have to admit, I'm a Porsche owner and wouldn't have expected less. With that said, can't wait to see the Plaid+! As I'm sure you're aware, there are ppl on YT testing the Taycan @70mph = 260ish miles of range, about 25% better than the EPA rating, without even trying. In any case, Porsche official statement from the onset was that their cars will never be about being range kings, is about performance with usable range. They can also charge from 30% to full in 50 mins. Currently is one of the very few EVs that can match and surpass their range rating. Not bad at all for their 1st try. Of course is more $$ than the Tesla, is a Porsche. Fit and finish is superb and performance to match.
