About Tesla : 25:36 : There are so many things that they did right in a 2012 car that everybody is still doing wrong in a 2019 car. That sums it up nicely.
You guys have such fun reviewing your cars, it makes it fun to watch, love watching you. Both your reactions to the ludicrous drive was hilarious. Awesome review as always. Keep up the great teamwork.
you guys are freakin' awesome! this was such a great review. jacob's reaction during the first ludicrous mode launch was hilarious. glad you finally got to review the Model S. keep it up!
@@ecomwithTrevor Tesla has recently changed names of the Model S/X trims, now the current equivalent of a P100D is called "Performance Ludicrous".You can look it up here if you dont believe me: www.tesla.com/models/design?referral=henry7209#battery
@@seriousgameofficial Lol, that's the default referral link *(The page forces you to use one, even if you dont want to).* So no, it's not mine. Im not even interested in the Referral program.
@@namanpahuja7653 dude model 3 base model is like 35k, 25k after incentive. Everybody and their parents (especially their parents) can afford a tesla at this point. There are lots of reasons not to buy a Tesla, but blind people like you obviously don't see.
@@motormusique Bitch, please... You failed statistical math in college, didn't you? Did you even went to college? Or finish high school for that matter? Autopilot is factually, demonstrably and statically more secure than anything else on the market, including driving on your own. Much less death per miles driven, period. Fuck context, math and facts, right?
I filled up my tank today with 93. It took 4 minutes. I would hate having to "kill" 90 minutes in public spaces each time my car needed a charge while on a road trip.
blitzbbffl it takes less time on a supercharger nowadays after all the updates, I find it pretty easy to spend the time during a road trip, but then again the car really isn’t for everyone
Agree. That is a MAJOR obstacle to ownership. I drove one shortly after they came out and, obviously, performance sells the car. But, when looking at it objectively...everything from build quality to interior shortcomings, to awkward controls, to visibility, to bad ergonomics, to service, etc., etc., I decided not to buy. I think that the solution to both the charging and range anxiety issues might be to buy the vehicle but lease battery access and simply exchange them automatically and in minutes when depleted.
@@jamess3417 It's not 10 minutes from empty to full, just to get you to the next supercharger. Short stops every couple of hours is faster than doing less frequent stops every four hours. Battery charges very quick up to 50% , especially in the Model 3, then speed tapers off after that.
When I test drove this car the sales rep told me to put my head back on the head rest. I was initially resistant, but he only said "trust me". He was right, ludicrous mode is no joke!
If they keep doing this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eDASeEY0fmg.html , however, it's gonna cost them an arm and a leg in replacement drones...
It is nice to see that TheStraightPipes understand that having good EV software(navigation system plans routes with charging stops and accurately predicts range at destination) is key to a great EV ownership experience. Hopefully other automakers will figure that out.
new facelift P100D for comparison, as soon as they release the extended autopilot update please! has more power, way more range, autonomous driving, better computer etc
You can easily drive in low. Just set it to always the settings. Or manually set it once you're rolling. Also, you can adjust the volume without touching the screen. Just use the scroll wheel.
Just a side note - make sure you are very careful when closing the frunk as it can bend and deform if you close it too hard or unevenly. I believe the correct procedure is to slowly close the frunk, use two hands (palms or all fingers) on either side of the Tesla "T," and slowly add pressure until the latch clicks in place.
I just bought the LR AWD model 3 and it’s an amazing car. Sold a 2017 BMW M2 and 2017 Audi TTS. Both drivers cars, but electric just has a special feel. It’s nice to see both of you being car enthusiasts, really praise Tesla. Tesla really is the leader in electric cars. Can’t go wrong with owning one. Good review!
You should definitely try Model S Performance raven(new drivetrain since March). That one is utterly ludicrous. Also try a Model 3 Performance, with track mode. It's not the same donkeykick acceleration from a standstill but the handling is amazing. This is my personal choice and what I daily drive. They've adressed alot of the stuff you guys missed in this. New Model S has heated and cooled seats(these come and go), steering wheel heater, better seats and better rear seats. New really nice suspension with more settings aswell as crazy 0-200km/h(still pulling hard over 150km/h were electric cars usually die down because of lack of gears). Try it! You just earned a new subscriber.
Man I really hope you guys can get your hands on a newer P100D, autopilot is miles better now and if for some reason you needed it, it’s faster. The screen also got some nice updates to make it a little faster as well.
You guys are wrong about the Heated Steering Wheel. I have a 2015 90D Model S, and I have a Heated Steering Wheel. It was part of the Sub Zero Package since early 2015.
Yes @TheStraightPipes! So excited for this review! Thank you VIN, @Kala.Ltd! You da real MVP! PS. Please review that car with the crane because that’s proper movie car magic!
great review gents. have 2018 model s and driven loaners and model 3. please check out the latest model S it's much better ride quality and handling and addresses almost everything you mentioned. model 3 is cool too but everyone and their mom has it nowadays - i'd say better value but not as luxurious and fast.
I think the OTA updates keep the software in this modelS and the new model 3's around the same level. The new cars have better hardware now. That only happened a few weeks ago
I have a 2016 P90D USA demonstrator model purchased in September of 2016 and I absolutely love it! It does have the new front end and a heated steering wheel, but doesn't have the range of a new one. I can only plan on about 200 miles on a full charge, by which time it's down to only about 35 miles remaining.
Great review, and my dream car. I think it might be worth a follow-up with the owner to see what it’s like to have a car that ACTUALLY, regularly, receives over-the-air updates. That’s another thing Tesla had figured out back in 2012 that no one else does well, AFAIK.
just one thing to note if the screen is lagging that means its on MCU 1, you can get it retrofitted with MCU2 and it fixes the lag issues and probably the browser issues too.
Awesome video! Just a small gripe though! The maps aren't really laggy, you just had a poor internet connection. At 9:40 for example, you only have one line (out of 5) of LTE.
hey guys love your vids. the answer to all your concerns about why it doesn't have certain features like cooled seats, heated steering wheel, or massage seats etc. always comes down to range. everything they left out of the car was to improve range including certain luxury materials to save weight.
autopilot now is free/ included, that's a great decision. and the new P100D only costs about 100,000$ now. which other car manufacturer reduces their pricing by 40% some day with a facelift?
the same other car company that has a) government subsidies running out and b) a newer lower price model that has cannibalized their own sales. educated guess.
@thestraightpipes the instrument cluster can be configured by holding down the scroll wheels on either side. You can change between media, energy meter, a clock, trip info... etc...
You two delinquents! I 've never seen you have so much fun during a car review. Very smart and interesting conversation about extra cost/shopping while charging your coffee grinder. Very clever and original. I salute you two maniacs. Keep them coming!
Have a Model 3. Almost never take my eyes off the road, and when I do it's using the display for safety (e.g. car in blind spot). Just because a speedo is not in front of you doesn't mean you still focus on the road -- a glance down is the same as a glance to the right.
These guys can look at the gauge behind the steering wheel and NOT take eyes of the road..... Very cool indeed. The only people who complain about not having gauge cluster in model 3 are people who never driven it. It is in the same line of sight, slightly to the right of steering, which is actually easier to see and steering never obstructs anything.
I think you guys are my favorite car reviewers on RU-vid. I wanted to share that the primary volume knob for the stereo is the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel. The volume icon on the bottom right of the screen is mostly for the passenger. Pushing in the left scroll wheel gives you the menu of things to display on the left side, but as you mentioned the routing map covers whatever is there when you use the navigation. You also get proximity alerts there if you are getting close to something if the car has the 12 sensors. My car is a 2015 when they were optional, but a lot of optional things become standard with Tesla after a few months or a year. I think Tesla makes the best electric cars so far, but I have only owned a Fiat 500e and the Model S. I got them both as lease returns when they were three years old. So far getting a off lease car seems to be the way to go with EV's because you save so much. If you buy a used Tesla from Tesla, they put a new 4 year/ 50,000 mile warranty if it has less than 50k miles. Over 50k, they put a 2 year warranty up to 100k miles. Also when you need service, Tesla will send a service person to your house, office, motel, where ever you are as long as the car doesn't need to go in the shop. I had them replace an airbag and some power steering bolts and then he fixed some window trim he noticed. You already know about the supercharging network and route planning which make long road trips effortless.
in 2020 the p100d (now called the performance) starts at 142,000cad or 100,000usd and autopilot is a 10,000cad or 7,000usd option, everything else is now standard (even ludicrous mode) and it has now 825hp and 958 ft lb of torque
Imagine doing a visor test when you get to review the Model X and thought there is no visors… actually, it’s located on the side pillars but can you even extend it
Good job guys! I'd just like to say that it always baffles me when "almost" everyone's excuse for not going EV is range anxiety. I understant it's the hype word that seems to kill the idea of driving an EV but when I tell people "Well, you can always rent a car for that 1-2 times a year that you actually *need* range..." then they mostly look at me with glazed eyes and you can hear the little hamster wheel between their ears going and after a second or two they say "Aahhh... riiighhttt! I never thought of that." Now I know that for some people they really do use their cars a lot, and that's fine since we won't be going fuelless anytime soon but for *most* people, today's EV range (and not even extended range) would greatly suffice 95+% of the time. That is, if the Canadian winter cold doesn't negatively affect it. :-) DISCLAIMER: I also understand that we won't be ready for a zombie apocalypse if we have to rely on 160 km saving our behinds.
My family and I have 2 Tesla's 1 is a 2018 Model X 100D and the other is a 2019 Tesla Model 3 dual motor all weak drive both blue with silver rims I wish I lived in Canada because I would give them to you to review in a heartbeat
Great video Yuri and Jakub! I just recently stumbled upon your channel and have been non-stop watching all your videos! It's nice to finally see people who look into the finer details that most reviewers seem to skim across or miss altogether. Keep up the great content! P.S. I took a look at my car and was thrilled to find that the sun visors actual passed the test! Car: 2008 Lexus ES 350
The good and bad of Tesla: Great electric car. If you get into a collision accident, expect for the repair to be on average 3 months in the shop. The parts are hard to come by and confusing because they often change. For example, if you need a new driver door you later find out the original parts don’t fit because they changed the design so you have to order additional parts then there is all the electronics and calibration. Bottom line, they’re great cars to drive, just don’t wreck it.
@@joythought Watch Rich rebuilds, it's still bad. The only thing that they changed is that they accept salvaged cars where before such cars were dead to them and second, they only sell some parts. They've got long way to go.
Great review guys. BTW the lag I think has more to do with bad LTE connection than the car itself. Look at 9:53 your LTE has one bar and you keep zooming out but the data isn't downloaded yet.
The onboard computers aren't as powerful. It doesn't have anything to do with the connection. Your computer doesn't slow down if your internet is slow...
@Writer B.L. Alley You're comparing a $150K plus car to what a GM $50k car? That's not even close to being fair. I have a 2014 Sierra and I am perfectly happy with the panel gap on mine. If I paid that much for a Tesla I would expect much more considering the price.
@@loganholmberg2295 The extra cost is not spent for quality and luxury, instead it's been put in new type of propulsion, tech related, infrastructure availability, ect. That is what you spending more money for
I’m confused, sub zero package included heated steering wheel! It did on my 2025 S85D. It’s one of my favorite feature! And no, my S85D cannot do 0-60 in 3 seconds or less, but 4.2 seconds is pretty nice for me, and lots of fun!
