This is why every wheel shop will tell you to re-torque your wheels after a couple hundred kilometres. Although it is still rare to happen there are a number of factors that can cause this like bolt stretching, falls torque reading due to friction and the bolt slightly shifting due to vibration and forces.
@haiiyouu
@haiiyouu Год назад
They will tell you that due to legal reasons so you can't be held accountable if someone doesn't tighten the bolts properly. If they are torqued to spec once they are torqued forever. The car never had the wheels removed since being bought, this is slack from Tesla.

I once forgot to tighten the nuts (uh, that sounds wrong) on a wheel after a little repair / part replacement. On the test drive, above about 80 km/h afair I noticed vibrations, and I immediately knew what it was and returned home slowly. I can't imagine it not being clearly noticeable, especially if it's on more than 1 wheel.

@stoneeh
@stoneeh Год назад
@@JohnDoe_333 you should check and re-tighten them after about 50-100km drive after a change, and all serious / professional shops will tell you to do so. Avoid any who don't. 1:55 Low rolling resistance ≠ low grip, it loosely follows, sure, but you can absolutely make a tire with good grip and low rolling resistance, something you'll find fairly quickly if you compare lots of different tires with each other. A brand new tire 30 years ago would have much lower grip compared to its rolling restistance compared to a brand new one today, and the same thing applies if you compare a cheap chinese tire and an expensive premium one. It's much more about how you design the tire.

De verse lak van de velgen moet nog plat gedrukt worden door de wielbouten/moeren, bij deze belasting op de Nordschleife gebeurt dat dus heel snel door de hitte en bochten belasting. Everyone knows you're supposed to re-torque alloy wheels after the first 500 km after fitting, I'm also fairly sure tesla doesn't fit Hankook tyres, but I could be wrong, as far as I know they only use Michelin and Pirelli.
@loose_unit
@loose_unit Год назад
@@nickwagner9339 If you torque them to spec you should never have to check them. It's standard when the tyre company uses a rattle gun that you should check it, usually within 100km. I have lapped many other cars and swapped wheels myself and had wheels swapped by main dealers and by other shops ... Never have I had an issue with wheel nuts coming loose. This is extremely odd.
@nickwagner9339
@nickwagner9339 Год назад
@@loose_unit it is good practice in any case, new alloys can squash a bit where the nuts compress in the wheel under heavy cornering loads, that's why you should re-torque new wheels after a while, also because you don't know if the person who last tightened them was competent.

Tesla brakes are good but its mainly a heavy weight problem, Ibelieve
@danharold3087
@danharold3087 Год назад
brakes should be matched to the vehicle weight. Look at a truck Unless you take the car out to the track (I imagine) the existing brakes in combo with the regen are fine. Actuall tesla owners feel free to correct me.
@darekmistrz4364
@darekmistrz4364 Год назад
@@danharold3087 Even without regen they are fine. Trucks are bad example because they cannot drive down the hill without overheating their brakes (in case they forget about jake brake/engine brake). You can talk about "insufficient braking" if this car stops from 100km/h to 0 in more than 50 meters. But it stops in 35m which is better than most cars with that kind of weight.
@FirstLast-tx3yj
@FirstLast-tx3yj Год назад
@@danharold3087 the brakes are big but the problem is heat dissipation which is always limited by fairly the same surface area relatively speaking. Trucks have a jake brake for this reason and also rely on engine braking just like tesla relies on regen You put bug brakes you get brake performance and a force to slow down the disks as the heavy car pushes the front wheel into the ground giving front grip (low chance wheel lock) but the only problem you have left is heat dissipation Only brake ducting or magically adding heat exchange surface area would solve the problem
@danharold3087
@danharold3087 Год назад
@@darekmistrz4364 My point is you find larger brakes as the vehicle weight goes up. Physics you know. Just for fun your case for trucks 'kind of' holds for cars too. Cars don't have gravity trying to pull 80K downhill. On pikes peak cars have the same problem. There is a checkpoint 1/2 way down. Cars with hot brakes get to wait while they cool off. Not talking the race here.
