Massive thank you, really great tutorial. I did have a massive panic tho as the screen didn't turn back on!! Took the mount apart again to make sure the wires were all connected, they were so panicked even more!! I left the car for 10min after putting my tools away. Came back and the screen started up when I opened the door. Phew!!
Many of you have asked about voiding the warranty. This item does not. You are protected by the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. You are entitled to make personal modifications as long as you don’t damage the car in any way. By just replacing the screen doesn’t damage the vehicle.
I just chose this walk through guide because it was clearer and better than all the others, and I am a 67 year old taking on a nerve racking DIY job.... I would add... it's a good idea to have a small mirror so you can see the fixing back bolts in particular, AND because the screen has been unplugged and replaced in... you will very likely need a two button screen reboot when you are done... my screen came back on, full vis, with radio playing but effectively still in screenwash mode with no off button... the reboot sorted that.
Great video, got it done. One thing to note is that if the screen doesn't turn on, press the 2 steering wheel buttons and keep them pressed for about 10 to 15 seconds or whenever the screen turns back on, this resets the screen. I had to do it
Thank you for the video. I am looking to possibly pick one of these up. Once installed, does it actually drop the height of the screen from where it was originally?
Oh boy. I didn't release the screws were upside down and pulled it slightly too hard and one of the screws snapped in half... tried to slightly pull the screen off but seems I need both? I guess I can't do this anymore ?
Yes, Adjustable would be a much more descriptive term. I was wondering how the Tesla software would cope when the screen was flipped from landscape to portrait and only at the end was it clear what this does which is very useful and something the car should have had in the first p,ace.
