You can run your AC during a outage. Look up micro-air ‘easy start’. Put one on my AC so can run off generator. It’s a soft start that cuts the start up current. Thanks for the video, Nice job.

Get a soft starter for your AC…you can install yourself. Then the powerwall can turn it on solo. Plenty on you tube videos for the install of the soft starter

Great video as always. I learned a lot from Tesla but decided to go another route, their customer service was below average. There are a a few solid local contractors it just takes a while to find a good one but they are not at Home Depot or Costco.

Hello. Great video. Ran into your video while re-researching charging issue with my Brand New Solar Panel system which installed on last week. Unfortunately, my solar system won't automatically start collecting energy in the morning. But if I manually reset (turn off and back on) the emergency shut off box and button from the side, solar will starts capturing to battery. Contacted several teams from tesla, waiting for response. So frustrating... Anyway, thank you for your video. Very informative!

Have you heard about the Tesla power buy back program. You can now produce cash flow with your system. Thanks for the great update on your system, it was very helpful.

Reply to User's Comment:"Great video! I totally agree with the importance of having a backup power source, especially when you're out camping or spending quality time with family. Have you considered the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series? It's a versatile powerhouse that can keep your devices and appliances running for extended periods. It's waterproof, has massive capacity, and even supports solar charging. Definitely worth checking out for outdoor enthusiasts and RV lovers like us!"

As a Florida homeowner who installed solar two years ago, your decision to use Tesla was a good one. I used a third-party, who, as you say in the video, dissolved the company, and simply opened a new one. Therefore, I have no warranty. My setup is manufactured by Enphase. I ve replaced an electric circuit twice. Next house, I will definitely go with Tesla. The 3rd party installers are crooks!

I'm lucky enough to live where the electrical utility rates are low enough that my annual bill totals less than $1000 ($83/month). Solar panels aren't economically feasible, payback is too long. I can't imagine a monthly bill of over $500. Insane.
@GospelCompilation
@GospelCompilation 9 месяцев назад
We're having the same issue. Our electric bill averages $220 a month. If we got solar, it would rocket up to $350, plus whatever grid costs would remain. We just can't justify the cost.
@vincentsgaming

Dang 83 a month sounds amazing. We are socal and its between 750-$1k a month (summer months in the 1k.) Its insane these prices and socal edision normally goes up 10% a ywar but this year its 20% jump. Getting solar is the only thing that will help us.

I've had a similar experience...10.2kW panels with 2 powerwalls in Irvine, CA...... Installed May 2023.... In my opinion, Tesla is the safest way to go, hopefully they will still be in business in 25 years.... If anything is certain its that electricity rates and gasoline prices will continue to skyrocket in CA.... it's crazy.... I now feel a little more insulated from our idiotic state politicians.....

Question, will the Grid allow a 30yr old roof stay connected to the Grid....or will they require you to maintain and replace all the parts as they age?

Today Tesla offered me the opportunity to join its Virtual Power Plant to use my three Powerwalls in the next few months to earn (up to) ~$1,100. Each year SDGE pays me ~ 3 cents per kilowatt hour of my substantial excess production. I suspect Tesla will pay a bit more. I bet other viewers would appreciate your opinion on which is the best option. Care to opine, or make a video to explain these options?

Y do you have to pay monthly if installation is completed? What's the point, to go on Tesla grid?
@vincentsgaming
@vincentsgaming 5 месяцев назад
Not everyone has $30k to drop for solar and not have the monthly bill. But if your talking about his pg&e bill its vecause they charge you to be connected to the grid still. You cant ever escape that. Even if you dont use any electricity from pge you still have that "connected" charge. So $10-$15 every month for nothing.

@@jonrogers7995 when people try and sale a house that has solar on it they try to get the buyers to assume the loan, which may have worked in 2021 and 2022, it ain’t working now, those houses are sitting, what will happen most likely for most is they will have to pay off the loan with the proceeds of the sale so the new owners is clear,
@GospelCompilation

That's our concern, too. If a buyer says, "No. We don't want the extra expense (especially in today's Bidenomics)," we've lost a sale. That's a big deal.

wait, why is it a GOOD selling point to saddle someone who wants to buy the home with an 8 year loan. I know solar increases value, but won't it lower the number of people who are likely to want to buy the home? I certainly wouldn't buy a house that has an 8 year loan against it that I HAVE to pay from the previous homeowners decisions.
@HotshotTek
@HotshotTek 5 месяцев назад
There are no concerns because it’s always negotiable. I can pay it off if requested during negotiations, or they can include it in the mortgage or split the payout. Alternatively, they can choose to continue the payment. Considering the entire city averages $500 a month on power without solar.

@HotshotTek
@HotshotTek 9 месяцев назад
In my location, I’m saving, but in your location, the cost of electricity could be cheaper, so it doesn’t make sense. So yes, you might be better off not getting it unless you want to be in total control and be off the grid.
@178fireman
@178fireman 9 месяцев назад
Location and timing is a huge factor. I had solar installed on my home in New Jersey 5 years ago. I used the federal rebate to cancel my taxes that year. And in New Jersey, they have what's called Srecs. They pay me about 200 dollars for Megawatt of energy I produce. Combine that with the savings from utility bills, solar has been in extremely cost effective.
@Taylorgoalie1
@Taylorgoalie1 9 месяцев назад
He is indeed saving a lot of money. If you look at @9:38 and reference his bills before the solar and power wall, he was paying an average of about $450/month. With his Loan at $250/month and his previous bills being only $10-$12 over the last 10 months, he is netting an average of $200/month. *These are not exact calculations, but if you would follow each trend for a 12 month period you would find my estimates fairly accurate. Therefore, if he or whoever owns this home and system pays it off in 8-9 years their savings will be well over $500/month. That savings is also being generous in saying electricity rates would only slightly increase each year. If they continue to rise like they have he would still be locked in to a guaranteed $250/month until its paid off and then his savings would be even greater. It’s a big commitment with a long term payoff for most, and it still doesn’t make sense for those with cheap rates. But for him, it’s already paying off since his loan is less than his pre-solar bills.
@traviswalker007
@traviswalker007 9 месяцев назад
@@Taylorgoalie1 You have to factor in the interest rate as well since that is a loss of money each month over the life of the loan and by the time its paid for the tesla solar and power wall will prolly be 50% cheaper as he always drops prices, so all in all it looks to be a wash
@davidrawlings7325
@davidrawlings7325 9 месяцев назад
Once it's paid off, it's free energy. If the system lasts 25 years and you pay off the loan in 10 you get 15 years free electricity. If you qualify for the 30% federal tax credit then that is cash in your pocket if you can sell the house with the cost of the system added.

We have been waffling back and forth regarding solar power because 1) our provider won't buy back electricity and 2) the payment for the solar panels comes out to the same amount we're paying for electricity, except that we'd be stuck with a banl loan with interest. This was a phenomenal review and it gives us great information. But, we're still struggling with the cost. Our electric bill is currently (September, 2023) around $220 per month. If we get solar panels, our electricity "cost" would actually increase. Potentially, for 15 years. That's a tough choice to make.
@johns6704
@johns6704 9 месяцев назад
I wonder if you could undersize the system OR perhaps have another powerwall so that you don't feed any back into the system. I've also wondered if it would be possible to set up a system so that you can actually disconnect the house from the power grid completely. Though my understanding is that in some jurisdictions they won't actually let you do that. Crazy. But yea it is hard to get the numbers to work out I think.
@vincentsgaming
@vincentsgaming 5 месяцев назад
You can always just diy kinda thing. On my offerup there is a ton of solar panels new and used for sale. Just throw up a couple and pay for the licensed electrician to set up to the house and your set and youll only pay $500-$1kish for a few panels and wires and youll probably save $50-$100 a month depending on how many panels you buy/ wattage of the panels.
