Hi Guys
I wanted to put this video together to teach you a little bit about the Tesla UMC. It has some advantages and disadvantages but overall it is good value for money. Seeing as the cars no longer come with the UMC you might be wondering if you need one. It is a very versatile charger that I do 99% of my charging with. You can buy a variety of tails to power it from a number of sources like 3-phase points. It will only use a 240v phase from these points but this will allow you to charge at speeds up to 7kW. This is super handy if you are travelling. I got my first 3-phase tail from EVSE.com.au but there are a few places to buy them from like evechargers.com.au or other places in your local area and country. It’s best to buy local made and not just order the cheapest you can find online. Quality is the most important thing when dealing with electricity. Here is a link to evchargers.com.au where I can vouch for the quality. I actually couldn’t find them on EVSE.com.au anymore and it looks like they offer an alternative to the Tesla UMC now. I am not affiliated with either of these places but I have bought from both and received quality products.
Here is a link to where I bought one of my UMC tails as an example:
evchargers.com...
They are often sold out so be prepared to wait for one.
