Results: Camp mode used 14.6% battery over 12 hours. (~10.95kWh)
Test Conditions: Unplugged with outside temperature starting at -10°C and warming to -5°C by the morning. Warmed the car interior from 1°C up to 21°C, then let it get down to 14°C while I slept and warmed it up again to 21°C for an hour in the morning.

The car is reporting the right temperature but it is the heatpump is extracting the heat of the air around the temperature sensor so the reason it is colder under the hood of the car than the ambient temperature.

I am just at the beginning of the ev journey and have a plug-in hybrid as my company car, but after driving it for a week, noticed that even consumption on my diesel went down, because of how i drive😁 Will definetly consider full EV as my next car. I thought the 30 amp TT-30 was very common, it's at all the provincial campgrounds that have power in AB, BC and SK. Maybe 50A is more common over there? Harder to find a 50A plug at a nice campground here in my experience, usually just the 'RV parks' have those. Lot's of choices though. Even just a regular 15A/120V plug is useful if camping in the same spot for a couple days.
@MohammadAbubakr

@@TeslaCampingCanada Ontario campgrounds have TT-30 at RV sites but they're usually not right beside the site. It's usually a shared area in between the camp sites so you need long extension cords.

I’ve also had issues with camp mode when there’s no internet. The car thinks no one is in it because the seat sensors detect no one, so if you hit the wrong HVAC button and deactivate camp mode, the car will turn itself off, including the screen. Then you’ll have to open the door to get the screen to activate and allow you to turn camp mode back on. You’re right that the app should have more features available directly over Bluetooth.
@TeslaCampingCanada
@TeslaCampingCanada 4 месяца назад
Yes! Thank you! More Bluetooth functionality! It's crazy that even the music controls in the app are through internet and not Bluetooth. It should default to use Bluetooth for all controls if in range, if not then go through the internet. I've had to do the door thing too I think. Also, In the summer I often sleep in the car without using camp mode, so the car is totally asleep.

The exterior temp reading is lower because the outside temp sensors are able to pick up the heat loss from the outside air that's being pumped into the cabin. you must have been camping on a night with fairly low wind.

You should keep the fan on auto, yes it’s noisier but will use less energy to keep the cabin warm, as with a low fan mode the compressor will run harder to compensate generating more heat as the low fan rate can’t heat the car consistently.

I guess yours is even weirder reading 6 degrees less than actual

@dylanmahoney1401
@dylanmahoney1401 4 месяца назад
@@TeslaCampingCanada For what it's worth, I would trust the steady state of the car's temp sensor more than what looks like a cooking oriented analog/mechanical gauge. The gauge is designed to have the probe be at a certain temperature and the dial at roughly room temperature, and the car likely uses an RTD. The RTD is inside of a plastic housing, so this adds a lot of time for it to catch up to large sudden temperature swings, but unless it's damaged or somehow ingested moisture I would bet more money on its calibration being closer to reality in these conditions.
@TeslaCampingCanada
@TeslaCampingCanada 4 месяца назад
@@dylanmahoney1401 It definitely could be that the car was accurate. I didn't consider it at the time, because I've never noticed that analog thermometer to be wrong before and I check it every morning on my patio. It's not a cooking thermometer, just a regular thermometer from the hardware store that people put outside. I should have put my digital thermometer outside too, I wasn't thinking... oops. Next time!
@dylanmahoney1401
@dylanmahoney1401 4 месяца назад
@@TeslaCampingCanada No worries! I can't say for certain that I'm right, if you use that probe in these conditions and it's accurate every day then maybe the car is wrong! But the good (albeit a little extreme) mindset to have is to never trust just one sensor in isolation :) In industries where measurement accuracy really really matters, engineers will use 3+ sensors (of perhaps varying types) to make it dual fault tolerant, and then take the median value. So another practical way to look at it is the real temperature was somewhere in between the two measurements haha
