Personally I would not use that meter for anything more than 110v AC and DC not more than low amperage 24 voltage. The next tier up are much safer and a lot more capable. think UEI, Amprobe, Greenlee, Southwire etc. A meter with a current clamp Is very handy and safer than probes. A meter with a decent ohms is also pretty important[at least a meg] and a capacity check is almost essential. Another problem with the really cheap meters is the probes suck. Just my thoughts. G
Yes this is a very basic low voltage meter that most people can use, for higher volts and more features other meters for sure are needed, but for a basic meter for the average person this one works good
Automotive tests for a multimeter. Engine running headlights on. One . Check across the battery posts. 14.1 to 14.8 is expected. Two. Negative battery post to the engine block. Less than 0.04 volts. 4/100th of a volt. Three. Negative battery post to the body. Again less than 0.04vdc. Four. Engine to firewall. Less than 0.04 vdc. Five. Positive battery post to the underhood fuse box. Less than 0.04vdc. Six. Alternator output post threads to the positive battery post. Less than 0.3 volts. 3/10th of a volt. I fix cars for a living. This is the test sequence i use on every car . Why such low voltage readings are good. This is voltage drop testing. A garden hose flowing freely the only thing slowing the water down is the friction on the inside of the hose. If the hose is kinked the pressure at the end is reduced. So measuring the difference is much greater.
Seems like all you do is buy used tools. Do you even know how to use the machines you have? Why not show something like you using one of those machines instead of just talking about them? Just curious.
I do when stuff comes in, I have taken this winter off on jobs to get some stuff done, I have a full time day job as a machinist for a large irrigation district with many pumps and motors to tend to, when I get home a lot of the days I have another 6 or so hours building my side job and a lot of that is field work so I am very busy, plus when I have my kids I drop everything I’m doing and give them 100 percent of my time no matter what is on my schedule. More machine work will be shown in the future but for now I do what I can with the time I have to share stuff
