The way, tender and resolute, he offers his hand to Tessa at the end of training to invite her joining him to the centre of the rink and greeting toghter the audience says it all. I remember the words pronounced by a well-known commentator many years ago after have watched Goordeeva and Grinkov skating: "They can communicate with each other with tenderness and respect". Those words suit perfectly Tessa and Scott
Ele Pa I think their Carmen has to be one of the top programs of all time. It is ahead of its time. It is ahead of ISU time. It carrys none of the cotton candy fluff or the superficiality. It gives the fans a raw, unvarnished Carmen and shows her for what she was supposed to be. The more I watch this dance, the more I appreciate how Tessa and Scott presented their interpretation and told the story their own way back in 2012. I don't think any other ice dance skating team can handle this dance. This program is totally underappreciated.
Actually, she does more than stroke his back. You can't see it here but she stroked his butt too. You can see it more clearly at the world's competition. They did a great job there so it's worth checking out!
You can see the contrast between their Marina-era choreography, where they stop dancing to strike a pose with lifts like 4:50 and 10:30 that have awkward entrances and exits, and their M-F/P era choreography where the transitions into the lifts always blend in so well with the music, like that famous Moulin Rogue lift where she stands on his legs.
This wasn’t choreographed by Marina. It was choreographed by someone else whose name eludes me now. That first lift was awkward- they changed it towards the end of the season. Many people didn’t think the second example was awkward. Different for sure though. But that was their intention since they used some lesser known portions of Carmen. They didn’t want to be the same as everyone else’s. One commenter said, you may not think all the moves are pretty, but they relate well to the storyline and characters.
The cheek of the other couple to get in the way during another teams practice time and then the gall to not stop, apologise and get the fuck out the way but to ignore the team and continue to skate out their performance during someone else's alloted practice time is so rude, shameful to be honest.
He does that and there is no acknowledgment whatsoever about it between them as they continue to skate the rest of the program. I know, business partners.
