+The Algorithm Merci beaucoup. Mais c'est grâce à l'aide précieuse de mon guide spirituel Gérard Depardieu que j'ai réussi à trouver la motivation nécessaire pour faire cette vidéo ^^
Most of my friends say the music I listen to sounds like video game music, and I listen almost exclusively to prog metal. Then someone takes one of my favorite albums of said genre and makes actual video game music out of it. Now I have no argument. It sounds awesome though!
This is brilliant! Immediately casts me back to Mega Man times on Game Boy.. what difficult games, that soundtrack would have been a perfect fit :D well done!
In all the ten years I've been on youtube, I just gave my first ever 'thumbs up'. What a combination, what an eargasm...(Referring to tourniquet here, obviously)
When I hear current progressive metal done in this style, I can only think that video game music had a huge influence on current progressive metal. Listen to some old game soundtracks and try to hear them as Tesseract or Animals as Leaders would play them.
+NLuKa420 It's funny cause musicians will always say "oh yeah my big influences are Slayer and Metallica and a little bit of Beethoven thrown in", but people in metal especially never seem to acknowledge children's tv shows, disney movies, and video games in shaping how they think about music.
Yea I would argue that you are probably more influenced by the stuff you aren't even aware you're listening to. It gets stored sub consciously. If I'm playing Mega Man, I'm focusing on beating the level, not the music. But how many time must I have heard the music on the first level?
+NLuKa420 Its funny, I had commented on the 8bit version of Vildhjarta's Masstaden, saying that it sounded like a video game soundtrack outright. People seem to complain about metal and it being simple noise, but bands like these have so much talent and musical genius, they transcend genre.
+marleymusic217 As I said in the description, most of the credits goes to CLM62800 for making the tabs in the first place. His tabs are the best I've seen and very detailled. He has spent way more time on these tabs than me on that video.
+PlayToDie Also a job well done to CLM62800! Seriously though, this is just mind boggling to me. How you can take complicated music, and just make a completely different representation of this music while not damaging any of the essence or heart of it.
+Sam Victor Well it most likely wouldn't be TesseracT themselves anyway but their label might. That being said it seems like 8-bit conversions fall under "cover" policy and thus get a pass. I have yet to see one get removed because of copyright strikes.
