Wow! I think, I just realized something about "Deception" :D I find it interesting that Jay feels the bars differently from Acle from around 9:26. While listening, I always felt it like Acle/the Metronome. So straight 4/4 all the way through. At least it makes more sense to me, because the form structure from the part between 9:13-10:20 is nice & round |8 bars of instrumental| |4x8 = 32 bars w/ added Vocals| and in 9:35 Jay even goes back to the standard 2 & 4 snare backbeat. So I would've assumed he also feels it that way. But later in this part there are indeed lots of weirdly placed strong hits, if you continue to feel it in 4/4 - sharing the "1" with the metronome. Especially those big, fat half-time backbeat-grooves but with the snare on the "4" instead of the "3". I always thought "well, weird accents in normal meters .. That's what they're doing all the time anyway, so nothing too unusual, I guess". And generally speaking, adding a quarter note in your head when the vocals start and subtracting one again when the part ends, would've seemed a little unnecessarily messy to me.. But apparently that's exactly what Jay did since forever, so I assume he came up with that drum part himself (and not Acle) and because of his mental shift of the "1", he wrote his part the way he did and when I now listen to the part like Jay does, the drumming of the 2nd half of the part indeed feels way more typical/natural, with the half-time backbeats coming down on the "3" instead of the "4". :D Assuming my theory is correct, I now wonder how the part would've turned out, if Jay had continued with the ongoing meter of 4/4 during the writing process like Acle & the Metronome. Cool stuff. ♪♫ :)
HOW THE FUCK HAVE I NEVER HEARD HOLLOW?!?! I literally listen to every Tesseract album at least once a week and I had no idea 😭 Is it on the vinyl? Fucking incredible 🤘🤘
It's a Roland TD50KV2 from the looks of it. He's using it with Superior Drummer 3. The default sounds on the Roland module are kinda trash lmao but superior drummer is incredible.
