I love the vibrancy and the colours and designs. Each square has its own little story going on. I think it would be very challenging to totally replicate any of these squares as each mark and line and layer are unique. And without a video you'd never remember all the layers which go to create the final outcome in the top visible layer. 😊
Agreed - I love the new shapes that I find going through these exercises, but I rarely (if ever…?) have tried to remake them as a large painting. Sometimes I really, really wish I could though 😂
Another great video…loving grid journal watching and then making! I got so hooked I’ve made templates (using Mylar for quilting templates) with squares and one with rectangles…I just slap it down, trace the shapes and then I’m ready to go! Soooo much faster to the fun part. Great inspiration, thanks!
Hi Jackie. I love to use tape to tape off because at the end I can peel it off and use it in later collages or as washi tape! (I store them on old inner cereal bags because they release easily.)
I really do love adding the painted tape to other collage and mixed media work too! Storing them on cereal bag plastic is a great idea - thanks for the tip! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the bright colors and how you keep evolving the design... Each video i watch, i learn a bit more from you. Thanks so much for sharing your talent! I'm a fan:)
Love these and colors will go with my couch. Lol I will send you a photo when I get back home. Any of those would work in my house. I am just starting to like pink.
I totally get it. I’ve decided it’s a process, just like everything else. We need to keep practicing moving to other substrates in order for it to feel easier to be just as free as on paper. Baby steps ☺️
I love the loose look of the paintings and it’s a great exercise to keep you Loosend up so you can create! 🙌🏻 I love yellow paint and use it all the time. I usually mix all my own colors. And I only lick the blue paint brushes. 😂😂
Hi Jackie.... loving the colours here. They're absolutely energizing. Loving the magic that your play created. Thank you for the tips on cadmium based paints and thin layer of medium to fix crayon marks between layers. 🙏🏽🤗💖✨💖✨💐💐💐
I can imagine several of the squares as larger pieces. Counting from left to right six squares across before going to the next row, squares 6, 10, and 16 feel particularly like studies for something larger.
I don’t know that there is much to “get” - for me it’s just an exercise and a way to practice different combinations of shapes and colors to see if I’d like to spend more time using them in larger work 🤗
I love watching others create too - fascinating how everyone works differently, isn’t it? Even if just enough to differentiate between different styles ❤️
LOVE the grid journaling process so thanks for another video so quickly! I like the idea of an inspirational piece or strip to a set color palate too. Changing media type is a challenge for me, need to work on that. The variety achieved is amazing!
@jackieschomburgart probably lol they had the yellow and pink (that I use way too much of so I grabbed them) and then black and white and I think red and that's it, it wasn't a huge selection
Fab! Absolutely fabulous 😍😍😍. I was travelling when I first saw this on IG but I took your advice and put a grid in my tiny sketchbook and it worked. It’s helped abstract some mini sketches which I always have trouble with. The neocolor II are great to use one the go. Thank you for this video Jackie, such fun with a gorgeous result. 🥰
I enjoyed this video very much, both in itself and as a way to use a grid journal. What are you using as an adhesive for the collage papers? I keep trying to stop the video in time, but can't seem to do so;.
Thanks! I use gloss medium from Nova Color as my glue. The container is just a condiment squeeze bottle that I put the medium into, so it wouldn’t be much help to you even if you did pause it perfectly ☺️
Beautiful 😍 as always. I saw the bird inmediatly. Btw did u sent me u email to sent u picks of my town in Spain? I lost it and I don't remember who did it.
Exactly. The paint stays wet for a full day or two (more if you cover it or spritz with water, but the thought of mold creeps me out so I usually don’t cover it). It’s not pretty, but it helps a ton!
