Classic Car Addict is excited to present this low mileage 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T Sport for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. With only 53,492 miles, that means this Dakota was driven roughly 2,140 per year over the last 25 years. This is a three-owner vehicle, with a clean Carfax report and will be sold on a clean Arizona title.
The blue gray cloth interior is super clean and features bucket seats with a huge center console that includes specific spots for Kleenex, CD’s, and change. Three cupholders in the forward portion of the center console in three sizes, for a two-liter bottle, 20-oz. bottle and soft-drink can. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, an AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio with Infinity sound system, power windows, and power locks. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges.
The Dakota is finished in Deep Amethyst (only 62 produced in the US) with R/T graphics, and it features a body-color grille, bumpers, matching tonneau, R/T specific wheel arch flares with tinted glass and a sliding rear window. This is original paint, does have sun fade due to the Arizona heat. Split-spoke 17″ alloy wheels are mounted with NITTO 255/60R17 tires with a spare mounted below the bed. The sale will come with the original tires as well.
In spring 1998, a new limited-edition R/T package was available as an option on the Dakota Sport model. This version is considered a true street/sport truck, only available in RWD. Factory modifications such as a 250 hp 360 cid/5.9-liter V8, heavy duty 46RE four-speed automatic transmission, performance axle, limited-slip differential, sport suspension and steering, upgraded brakes, performance exhaust, special cast aluminum wheels, monotone paint, bucket seats, and many other standard options came with the package.
Some truck buyers have been stuck in a quandary: Don't need that big honkin' full-size pickup, but the compacts and imports don't meet the power requirement to tow the boat to the lake. The Dakota fills that niche like no other truck on the planet. Call Classic Car Addict today, 480-256-1459. This sale will include the original window sticker, books, logs, etc.

I have the same one but a club cab and it attracts a lot of attention because of the color! Very rare to see it in that color. I love it! Many are surprised that it is factory stock color. I have upgraded the brakes to the 2003 model and riding on Viper wheels.

How was the viper wheel upgrade? Is it hard finding tires ? Was there a back space needed? I run 275 17” 50. On mine with just a smidge of rub on the inside at full lock ……I have been on the fence , becsue it’s not like viper parts are cheap , for the brake upgrade s well ….just curious if you have better handling or braking with the wheel,tire combo .best of luck with your truck

@@nadronnocojr The tires are very expensive for those wheels!! Rear tires easily cost around $500 each while front is about $200 to $250 each. I have 1.5 spacers on mine and they do not even rub at all even with 3/5 inch drop I used to have, I now have it at around 2/4 inch drop. When I tried it without the spacers, the front wheels hits the A Arms on the rear at full lock while the rear wheels rubs on the rear springs. I believe the smallest spacers you can get away with would be 1 inch maybe 3/4 of a inch. But with the 1.5 spacers makes the tires lines up to the fender flares perfectly. As for handling, they feel solid but can feel EVERYTHING on the road!! Slight deviation on the road will make your truck wander but not something that makes it uncontrollable. But it is not hard to drive as long you have the air pressure correct. You will know when you are low on tires because the handling gets worse. Also must be very careful driving during the rain or snow since the rear is so wide at 13.5 inch and no weight in the rear. It can easily fishtail or drift if you have the Posi rear, sometime fun but can be scary when you were not prepared for it. The 03/04 brake upgrade is a HUGE Improvement! It makes the truck stop way better and very surefooted. But I will be upgrading to the Viper brakes anyway because the brakes looks so small and silly in the wheel gaps plus the even better braking you would get from the Vipers is the best benefit from that upgrade. To answer your question about the tire brake compo being better than factory. I had a friend who had a stock 2001 RT drive my truck while I drove his. we both agreed that my truck handles like a sport car, very firm but solid performing truck, while his truck handle like a good muscle truck. I always enjoy driving the truck and it is very relaxing for me whenever I drive it. The best way I can describe the difference between stock RT and my truck using that combo; Those people who like firm and solid sport cars would enjoy my truck while those who like plushness or luxury cars will hate it.

:35 I live and am from Arizona, you said truck was not kept in garage it’s entire life? For that to be original paint it had to spend its life in a garage , that paint would be completely faded in just a few years in this Arizona heat!

@@sactownmoparyou're not lying about the subpar brakes! I have a black 99 Durango that still looks like new inside and out, only 90k miles! And mine of course has the rear drum, simply put a v8 4x4 Durango it is too much of a vehicle for the size of front calipers & rotors they chose to use knowing they were use brake drums & shoes on the rear ESPECIALLY with the 31x10.50x15 wheels & tires. @sactownmopar I've just recently found that it's common for people in situations like mine to do the 2003 Durango brake swap since the 03 Durango comes with rear disk brakes instead of drums like mine. What I was not aware of is that the front brakes on a 03 Durango are larger than my 99, the 03 having dual piston front calipers & my 99 having single piston front calipers. **DO YOU KNOW IF ANYONE SELLS A COMPLETE SWAP KIT THAT HAS EVERYTHING I NEED FOR BOTH FRONT & REAR, OR WILL I HAVE TO PIECE IT ALL TOGETHER MYSELF? Ad I do know one thing is for sure mine definitely needs it, the brakes have the worst stopping distance of any vehicle I own.

What all did you have to change out just calipers
@sactownmopar
@sactownmopar 2 месяца назад
@@Floreypottery basically the 2003-2004 spindles outward and 2003/04 specific brake hoses. I got it all in 1 piece per side at picknpull then bought new calipers, hoses, pads, rotors. They are 2wd and 4wd specific and the 2003 durango brakes are little bit beefier then the 2003/04 dakotas so you can not mix them up or you will have problems.

If you have the 46RE built and modify the torque converter, you’ll forget all about the idea of a manual transmission. I just remedied that by adding an SRT-10 Ram regular cab. Best of both worlds. 😎
