Today we are taking out the turbo 5.0 for a spin. This is the first drive since its been tuned/Turned up! My tiktok: www.tiktok.com... My Main IG: / its_mike_myke
I honestly feel like this man should make a podcast channel talking about people's builds. Man talks to the camera like we are standing in front of him.
12:52 people don't know what actual HP feels like. Usually they haven't even been in something that makes 450+ WHP much less 700+ lol. Then the internet says 1000hp this, 1200hp that, 1500hp the other. And they assume they want that , or know whats fast 🤣.
@@jaidedeye exactly lol. My e92 m3 was about 575-600whp with an e mix and methanol. PLENTY fast for a street car. By how good the chassis is, I'd say 650-700 would be perfect. But for these old, tiny tin can cars. U don't need, and can't use more than like 450-500. Ur just spinning. Unless u drive on slicks all the time (which is dumb).
You seem really bent on making more power 😂. I think it's perfect! For the mods you have, yes the turbo is holding you back. Bone stock 5.0s will make 400whp with a 70mm On3 kit at 10psi. I would love to see you run some higher horsepower cars to see how the old fox performs. 💪
Get a 351w roller. Most of the parts from the 5.0 will swap over. I have a Turbo 306 87 TTop Fox and have had 17 of these cars. You can say I’m a fan of them. The 351w is by far the best swap for these. It’s basically just a bigger displacement 5.0 that can hold a ton more HP.
If your not breaking anything with a bigger turbo I say do it but if it's gonna start breaking stuff then leave it to avoid issues it's a nice build really clean
It’s not the horsepower that gets these motors it’s the torque that snaps these rods and blocks. From what I’ve seen 500-550 tq is about the limits on the 5.0’s I’ve seen some live at higher for a very short period of time but it’s a ticking time bomb. I’d leave it alone or put a bigger turbo that doesn’t spoil as quick to keep the torque down and just let her have the boost up top
Mike, for future reference on exhaust. A 2012 gt500 with a vmp and stock exhaust, made around 750whp, before the exhaust became an issue. Stock manifolds, cats, and catback.
I would honestly leave it the way it is reliable and fun you have other cars if you want to go faster or just do the Mike way and go for the bigger turbo lol either way she is fire keep up the great content and doing your thing love seeing the success on the channel
Should be able to keep the same heads and cam if you build a 351 or 351 based stroker engine I believe the only thing that's not usable is the lower intake manifold
New racing 3584, should be the perfect bump in hp & extra rpm. If needed, check out a Boss short/long block from Ford Racing (Boss to 1000 hp, Dart to 2000 hp)
Don’t get wrapped up in power numbers in a Fox. For some reason Fox bodies are way quicker than the dyno’s show. My on3 T70 turbo 5.0 Fox hatch ran mid 10’s on only 460whp with full interior,AC etc.
Yes it needs more turbo. Definitely want to see a reliable 550 302. I'm currently building a 302 and I'm going to boost it. I'm gonna be in a 91 ranger though lol
Mike I'm telling you edelbrock Victor Jr heads is where it's at I thinks they flow better then trick flow but that's me the mustang is looking good and running good
I'd say keep it how it is, or make the exhaust housing a little bigger. That way it's still super responsive. Even if u get like 550 out of it the car weighs nothing. 700-750 sounds insane lmao, especially when u already have a bunch of super fast cars.
I was disappointed with the first time we put my 5.0 on the dyno too it made literally the same numbers actually a couple hp less on 9psi and I was but hurt . Was 384/401. Then I pulleyed down and turnt up like you did but I changed to a victor jr Intake as well. These cars are still quick with out a ton of power .
I say get the bigger turbo just to let her breathe better. Then just focus on optimizing every little detail on the ride quality and driveablity. She looks and sounds fuckin dope as hell already💪🏼🤙🏼
I'd say Rocc it like that to the point of frustration then upgrade. Just to enjoy it like that for a while until you decide you need/want better performance
“Swang Tang” 😂🤣😂. Honestly bruh, no one has any dog in this fight. You gotta do what you want. Like you said in a past video, you may not want to turn it into a car that always needs to be fixed. In my opinion, ur probably gonna need to get some runs in in order to make up your mind. Also consider when the other fox gets done with the body shop so you can compare the two and know which to turn up or let be.
