The MG ZT 260 was produced in limited numbers from 2004 to 2005. I own one (#194) but wanted to review someone else's rather than my own. So here you go... #mgzt260 #mgrover #mustangv8
883 cars were made in total, rover 75 seloon and estate that were automatic, and MG saloon and estate that were all manual 5 speed, i currently own number 473 and that is a face lift ZT-T 260 in SE trim and also an estate finished in x power gray
Had 2 ZT190s , first one in Trophy Blue, second in XPower Grey. The second was fully loaded, ex-MG directors car with every option inc. TV. Sold it for £2,200 back in 2010 and struggled to find a buyer. Good handling, underpowered. Needed to wind-it-up to extract performance. Clutch obstructive. Very comfortable. A ZT260 would have been far better. Have driven Jags subsequently XJRs and naturally aspirated- effortless!
This is really late 90s Mustang engine. Up to 1995 Mustang had the old 5.0 ohv V8. The Sohc 4.6 came in 1996 model .... rated at only 215 HP, the '99 facelifted "New Edge" Mustang - had 260 HP :) But yes, engine is a early 90s construction (first in Lincoln Town Car from 1991 later Crown Victoria and many different models.
If i didn't own a Jaguar XFR i'd be tempted by one of these. That engine easily tunable for a lot more power? Getting about 650bhp out of the XFR for not a lot of money but going much further the prices get crazy.
The Dreadnought supercharged conversions of these can get 380-420bhp. I think more is possible but I am the wrong person to ask how! Thank you for watching!
