Damn straight facts, I love 4.6L at least the Ford V8 does. how does this 4.6 compare? Also is the V series modular and take a host of After market mods?
I'm not an expert on American V8's, but the Northstar is GM's own "advanced" V8 that was developed in the late 80's and early 90's. The 4.6L displacement is the same as the Ford modulal V8, but they are very different engines. The Northstar is a DOHC 4-valve 90 degree engine, and the Ford Modular 4.6L came in 2, 3, and 4 valve options. In N/A form, the Northstar is very similar to the Ford Modular 4.6L, but I think the Ford engine is much stronger for boosted applications. I hear the Northstars, especially pre-2004 versions, had lots of reliability issues.
I just looked yesterday and the 4.6 I have is a SOHC so I definitely see why the GM is also super advanced for its time, I typically only saw DOHC out japan and not V8s you sure do know a lot I appreciate the knowledge 👍😎😎
