That carriage is so heavy. I haven't weighed it yet but I don't have any problems moving a no 1 carriage by myself. It takes an atv or long levers to move this one. With that kind of weight I hope it will be a good shooter. Thanks for the comment
Yes your right. There is a limit to my machining skills. The Whitworth style rifling is something I have been working on but haven't got it yet. I my opinion the breech loading part of the Whitworth was the big breakthrough in cannon technology. That style rifling was abandoned shortly after the Civil War but breach loading cannons became the norm. It also makes bullet casting a nightmare.All that being said it's super cool and I will try to do it someday.
