Why dont use jar measurement of silt 2ml. It is already giving volume silt. You do not need this complex math calculation. Its easy.. where did u complete civil engr?

As per PWD specification, In volume basis up to 8% of silt is acceptable. Whereas as per IS 383, in weight basis up to 3% of silt acceptable.

i just want to say that the graduation on measuring jar itself is mentioned in ml that is nothing but the volume but why you are simply wasting the time in calculations its just the 2ml of silt / 84 ml of sand multiplied by 100. dont beat around the bush man its just here just see it the graduation on measuring jar are not in mm or cm but its in ml nothing but volume

Silt content in the sand must not exceed 8% as per IS 2386-2. it's base on volume of silt . and sir This experiment is perform on volume basis then why you say 3% is permissible limit.

Dear why are you making calculation to much lengthy. If you know that total ht of sand plus silt is 82 ml and seperately height of silt is 2 ml then you can calculate that how much percentage is 2 of 82. There is no need of calculating volume of both.

Silt nikaalne me kuchh galati hai. 4πr^2 hoga kyoki ek division 2 ml ke barabar hai.
