I have just obtained one of these for mini wood turning. You need to do two things differently: Set the toolrest closer to your workpiece. Use your tools like chisels, NOT like scrapers as you are doing. You should produce nice continuous shavings when shaping your wood, NOT dust.
I'm glad I bought the version with the black metal shrouds instead of the clear plastic. I'm thinking I might be able to get a small cross slide to put in the place of the tool rest which will make things better
@@mauroelabora Not really, I just explore with woods that I had in the workshop, they really have been tests, the lathe has good power for soft woods but it's a matter of trying whit hardwoods.
I would replace this motor with sewing machine motor with pedal 220v 7000-10000u/min Pedal can be a safety part of machine😉 This motor is approx. Same size

Several questions: What kind of wood are you turning? How wide does the chuck open? What is the distance between the motor shaft and the base? (i.e. max object diameter)
