why did pioneer stop the production of these speakers on their XR systems? They were incredible, 0 distortion even at full bass, the air comes out like as if a fan. unbelievable quality. What is it suspended on ? I had a A700 hifi system, looked like some kind of grease was leaking after 20 years. It is very futuristic. Who ever was the engineer is brilliant.

had those speakers, pro and cons. pro, excursion was great, aesthetics too, never got distorsion. Cons: I think they were rated at 70Watt,... for 70 watt the bass was poor, it was so poor that I used it as midrange speaker. At one point I burned my 2.1 15W RMS sub and wanted to replace it with one of those. fitted perfectly but the 15W sub was much more powerful. complete fail, no wonder there are no edgeless speakers around.
i dont get it, the bass is awesome, the pioneer mini systems XR800 and XR 970P series had massive woofer cones, each delivering over 150 watts per channel on edgeless pioneer woofers. There was another higher end pioneer system XR900? or 1000 or more that had two edgeless woofers. it was way ahead of its time. Too bad they dont have it anymore and i suspect, cost of production was very high.
