Guitar: Fender Stratocaster American Standard Amp: Marshal Dsl 40c with Celestion Greenback speaker Eq: all flat Crunch by: Electro Harmonix East River
Why are people seeming surprised that a fender pickup peforms well? The American stock pups always sound good. The Mex ones aint bad either. All 3 pups sounded great
The SsL 3 does have the HB type of mid push, which is very noticable side by side.To acknowledge you prefer the others simply means you're playing the right guitar.I , as well, prefer vintage single coils. Thinking the 3 would match well with the Texas Specials; they have a crazy amount of output and low end for a straight SC.Also maybe not the worst choice for slide, with the fatter P90ish EQ.
Think I'd take the stock everytime. The Tex Specs are almost P90's, but the various other derritives just lose more than they add, - the TB's aren't bad, - just not as good.TBH, even many of the cheaper stock MiM types, with the exposed magnets, are best left alone; they ain't pretty, but they work just fine.Much depends on the amp and speakers.
Depends on what you want. I like more of a Les Paul vibe in a Strat body. My vote goes to SSL-3. In person, to my ears, SSL-3 sounds like a more articulate humbucker. I grew up on Malmsteen and GnR. Don't like the twang
@@i3oosted maybe they dont want to rout their guitar, or buy a new one. maybe a single coil sized humbucker doesn't look as good, or a humbucker doesn't look as good in a strat????
I have Fender custom shop Texas specials in my stratocaster, plenty of power. People say " but they're trebley". News flash....that's what your EQ on your amp is for.
They have a certain tone? sounds great on your playing. I been using ultex Dunlop Primtones for the warmth. Galli's were did find them on ebay? plus there italian:) gotta be goood:)
Ken Aiello thanks for your kind words! Take a look here: www.ebay.it/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=galli+picks&LH_PrefLoc=2 www.gallistrings.com/en/accessories/picks I live in Italy and I buy this picks in a music store near Venice. I love this picks!
All of them sound shrill and ugly to me. Hate strat bridge pickup sound. As I can see, there are many strange people who actually love that spiky sound. I would like to hear ssl-3 with a baseplate. Maybe than it would sound beefy like a tele, sound that I like.
