awesome format of a video! I loved the Q&A aspect of it. Really cool stuff, Valdemar! Between you Think Like a Pro series and this stuff, some of the best content out there \o/
I always enjoy these videos, but I feel like I learned a lot from this one in particular. It is not always obvious when a pro is about to make a choice differently than I would have. My own decision tree wasn't necessarily reaching a junction at all of these pauses, and I'd not have thought to stop and give extra attention to these spots without being prompted. Very instructive format!
This was really cool. Getting a chance to practice decision making while watching is something I haven't seen before with video guides. Hope to see more of this type of vid!
Please make more of these :) As you can see, this format is quite popular with the fan base you've established. And thanks to you both for putting this together.
thanks a lot for this video! I think I learned from this much more than from many other age videos I have seen lately! Very engaging, very interesting! Pls do more like this! This is great! :)
I appreciate this advice to play off meta. I’ve been playing more with random civs and trying to get creative with my games down here in Plat. Its really helped with decision making, and hope it leads to mastering the game a bit more.
Thanks for the vid! I am curious. I know the Japanese player in this game could have done some things better in the early game, but let's say he did that and the game was more even. How could you win this as Japanese player? To me it feels super hard countering council hall. If Japanese goes FC or 2TC --> English will punish this play with longbows if properly scouted If Japanese goes mass Samurai --> Longbowmen can kite until the tower, very hard to push for the samurai unless a huge mass is reached If Japanese goes mass horsemen --> English will make some spears to counter and destroy them with longbowmen If there's any video that showcases an English player with council hall and a Japanese player winning, please share!
I have a question for the beginning. Would be for red the smartest move to build on every fishing spot a Dock (and cancel it) to deny blue the most of fish? Or do the fishing spots reset after canceling the building?
@Valdemar1902 I think bm is fine in that case, though. It's s part of the game, and because the fish come back, it isn't an exploit anymore to build docks on them. Otherwise barbican rushes or Mongol TC rushes should also be considered bm....
@@stysner4580 It is BM to be Barbican Rushed, it isnt to barbican Rush some others ;) (But good to know they reset, next time i mess up with placing, i just can try again, whew)
@@oxygenabuser2924 its just a different approach of the strategy with stealing deer with pro scouts. Just that i do it with fish and concrete... sealing the whole water... Because i hate fish, doesent give bounty :< I dont eat it, you shouldnt as well :
I love the video type, although I think Don has poor logic sometimes. Two examples - He keep saying "not in a rush", but aging up with 6, seems bad - similarly, he keeps talking about efficiency - the later the age up, the more vills you need & the less efficient you are - rallying to wood before age up is inefficient
You're not wrong, in game I thought maybe I overshot it a bit and decided to age with 6 instead of 4, to get some tempo back so I could apply preassure. Figured I'd be good res wise to spam non stop. The concept of stacking a res slightly to catch up on the other later is still interesting to teach tho, and for the most part what I did is still efficient. This was a random ranked game, decissions were made real time and it's ofc not 100% perfect (especially since I'm not playing a simple BO). I'd say 1 more vill to sheep before getting the wood stack then aging with 4 instead of 6 was the way, but it's small stuff. This is all about teaching concepts, it's not a precise BO vid or going to be the exact same situation somebody else will be in. Most important thing is you're thinking critically for yourself so props to that, now go apply it in your games.
