Putting water in your microwave does work to help loosen everything up for an easier clean...I just use water and put it in a cup and let go for about 5 minutes and then take out the hot water, if there's a stubborn spot you have hot water to help you get it off. I personally don't use the vinegar but some people do.
I have the terra cotta bear and it really does keep the brown sugar from turning into a brick! I keep seeing pink stuff everywhere, gonna give it a try.
