once you open a bag, it won't last very long. Maybe a few weeks. Might make sense to bring along some ziplok bags to divvy out the oatmeal into daily portions and shake all the flavorings to the bottom so you can divvy it out evenly.
Good review! I like that you used multiple test subjects in order to get a variety of palates and average them out. One thing though... the one you are calling "be ready" is Augason Farms. They call it their be ready kit, but the brand is Augason Farms -- a very well known and reputable company in long term food storage. Thanks.
I liked the review, but I didn’t like the one on Ready Hour. I am top heavy on that. Now I feel like I wasted money. Question, have you evaluated 4 Patriots or any MRE's?? I've been wanting to try MRE's too. I like having a variety of foods and sources. I'm just silly like that.
I haven’t tested 4 Patriots food or MREs yet. I can do that soon! I too like having a variety of emergency food. I just know that this stuff is a bit pricey for people to be buying and tasting some of everything just to see if they like it. Hopefully me doing a bit of that helps!
Bro, don't worry about calories, you can survive a long time without food and you don't look like you worry much about your calorie intake. Let's be honest about oatmeal, if they didn't seperate it in to individual portions, just buy actual oatmeal and sugar. I like my sweetners on top anyway. My SHTF rations are just a part of my pantry. It's rice, pasta, oatmeal, pickles, pasata, etc. It's all within the date, because these are things I actually eat, the cache is just bigger. What you really need is 72 hours worth of food in your bounce bag. You don't need actual MRE's, because you don't burn soldiers amounts of calories. Those are better if ready to eat, because if you get caught in a refugee stream, there will be nothing left to burn for boiling water, or water to boil.
