I have seen this advertised many times. This is the first time I've seen it tested.I actually thought about buying this shovel. Thanks for saving me 200 dollars.👍🙂
Great review, i considered getting one of many of these long handle survival shovels and most of them fail, if i ever end up in a survival situation i want to survive, i settled on the folding military steel one which i can see will outlast me, only disadvantage is it's short.
I like my Cold Steel shovel a lot and have owned it for years. Although not as compact as my military trifold shovels it weighs less and has fewer fail points.
Thanks for the video. I saw this advertised and knew it was going to be a soup sandwich. Thanks for pointing out the exact reasons that it's an unwise purchase. Combination tools rarely do as good of a job as a dedicated tool. The more tools you add the worse the compromise.
It honestly didn't look that bad. Of course the broke flint is pretty crappy, but it could still be a useful tool. I mean I wouldn't expect it to cut down a tree more efficiently than an axe. Its benefits are being easy to carry and have multiple uses. I think it accomplished that. Is it worth 240$ probably not. You could get an axe, flint and steel, portable shovel, pocket knife for under 240$. Good honest review video though
@@theTeflonDon1 There are much better tactical shovels out there that cost a fraction of what the Zune lineup does... the one I got from Iunio has interlocking HANDLES, not just locking mechanisms on the shovel head, someone else did a review of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AvpC_rnHdF4.html... granted I will say the BAG that Zune usually ships with the shovel (the one with the velcro on the flap AND the zippers) is the best part, and thankfully you can purchase that separately
Seems like you got a counterfeit item. Should’ve came with a carry case and sharpened from the factory. I beat the hell out of mine and have loaned it to students during classes for them to mess around with it. It’s held up well since I’ve gotten it. Of course it’ll never replace the tools it tries to mimic. Overall it does a damn fine job. Definitely worth the price considering you can beat on this thing without worry that it’ll fail on you.
We got it sent to the channel directly from the company themselves. I am glad it worked out for you and your application but for me this was my experience.
This is for backpackers, its ultra light and ultra compact i would rather have this than an axe and shovel and saw strapped to me weighting over 20lbs. Yes it seems to have some weak points but it does as advertised, things like the lighting rod i dont care for i always have spare lighters because fire is important. When youre camping you have all the time to chop down a small dead tree. I found the same one for $50 and its very ideal.
Thank you for making this video. I just recently purchased a survival shovel and after watching this I am going to fix some of weaknesses, Like packing some fire starter around the magnesium ferro rod. Maybe cotton treated with something.
Excellent review, you saved me some $$$ thank you! I am still searching for that one swiss army like large tool that can do it all. For now I will stick with my CS shovel, also the russian titanium shovel and trowel head is pretty good and will fit on a CS handle. Wont chop as well as the CS shovel though due to lighter weight.
My friend recommended I buy a survival shovel with my stimulus money. "I already have a folding shovel" "But does it have all these tools?" "I already have all those tools" Looking at how the axe feature worked on this, I think I'd prefer my little $35 hatchet
You actually (almost) swore! That does illustrate your frustration with a premium priced tool made of inferior materials! For the price these guys need to step up the game!
Target is selling this shovel for $199.99 and that is on sale. I of course would have lost my mind paying $200.00 for a shovel, but I am glad you confirmed what I thought, it's a horrible item and no where near worth the money. Excellent video, thank you for your review.
Really appreciate this video as I've been shopping for a multi tool survival shovel. And was wondering if the price tag on this held any corilation with the quality. I hope they watch your video and come out with an improved version.
I'm thinking the chopper may be intended for roots. Thanks for the honest review...you crushed it. Have to look into the cold steel. Have you done a vid on that?
A normal shovel blade makes good work on roots, but they specifically show this thing chopping thru wood. I think I'm gonna go order the cold steel shovel to mess around with
Good review kinda what I expected, most do all tools don’t do any of the many things they clams very well or at least as well as a tool designed to do that one thing. I didn’t think it would beat my normal pack of tools I carry when out in the wild gransfors hatchet, silky saw, a quality knife (I use a hand made knife from Arno Bernard), bic lighter, and cheap us army entrenching tool, and a leatherman. Not as light and none of it screws together but all of em do what they need to flawlessly and there’s some interchangeability if one of them ever fails.
Yea, kind of an expensive little sandbox shovel / Hatchet . Only paid $30. for mine at a gun show. Haven't used it yet. It had a couple more functions.. But the best part about it was , it came in a nice compact package. Good for backpacking.
That is an excellent shovel. When cutting down small trees when you shouldn’t there is plenty of wood around the woods is about proper technique. Sometimes you accidentally did a proper technique. I wish I had a shovel like that when out in the woods when I was younger. Now I will get it to go hunting and yes I will make a proper video with actual survival usage. There are tribes that make axes with thin stone and when hit wrong they break. Yeah the price is too high this is why I got the cheap Chinese knock off
I actually own this shovel. Your right, it’s totally not worth $200+ but it’s a shovel not an Axe. An Axe is for chopping wood. A shovel is for digging. Of course they have there add-ons for this shovel that makes it look better. It also comes with rope and a mini hand saw. Which I have no idea how to put it in the handle. The Feral rod sucks. Broke after my 4th chop on some roots in my yard. The whistle is loud. The large knife was very sharp when mine arrived. The small knife is actually supposed to be as the striker for the rod. And the tip of the handle comes off and is supposed to screw on the head of your shovel for add weight when you chop, which it does add a little more weight. I don’t like how the head of the shovel doesn’t fold all the way flat. Over all it’s nice. Not worth $200+.
Who’s tree is that? Do you have any idea why you’re chopping that sapling? Why would anyone do that? Right there in the picture frame is some deadwood that could be used to make a fire and you’re chopping a sapling…
Dude i was always thinking in my head if I should buy it or not. Since it was made in China I was disappointed, when it said it has "German quality* why couldn't the company make the shovel in Germany? I need to know what survival shovel be the best, I don't care about the price I just need to know.
My e/shovel was issued in the Marine Corps was simple but that shit worked great especially for trenching and sand bags also heard a couple guys got body kills with it jk I joke I joke
