Testing a CHEAP Sewing Kit For Beginners 

Wow... How did this even make it to the stores? This company really is a crap kit factory. I think they are scammers at this point x_x

"Bobbin not included" you need a bobbin to sew anything! 😂

The bobbin was the main ingredient there. You need the bobbin to secure your thread in the fabric from the opposite side

I actually got this for christmas a few years ago and it was working for almost 5 minutes and it just started making these snap noises and the needle fell off and like the 7 year old i was, i almost put it in my mouth 😄

When you said it doesn't come with a bobbin I was like "that machine is officially pointless"

The Boppin is what connects to the top thread which makes the stitches stay in the fabric so I understand why this thing doesn't work at all

As someone who has sewn, I can’t wrap my head around how a sewing machine would work without a bobbin

Just if you want to try sewing again, there is supposed to be a bottom thread and I am ten years old and can handle it great ☺️ the sewing machine is called Magicfly🦋 and it's one that is white with purple and comes with many bobbins, scissors, a thread cutter, and three buttons on the side. It also comes with a foot pedal, a cord instead of batteries (I think you'll like that), and a white thing that works as a little table but it doesn't really work but you can manage it anyways 😁 The only catch is that you need to buy the fabric but at least it gives you a choice!!

So the whole big lesson of this video is don't get made by me brand from Walmart 😂

As someone who has been sewing for about 8 years, these kind of kits make me mad. They are so cheap and awful quality, you might as well just sew with a needle and thread by hand, it’s a lot cheaper and fun.

The "thing" is called a needle threader. When I was young I thought it was a coin with legs. XD don't judge me.

So my Grandma got the same exact same kit, and it worked for a month and the thing litterly just broke. One day I went down stairs to finish the doll I was gonna make for my Grandma , and it went *clank boing zip bang urp leeyow vicsroom* It scared the ever loving crap out of me!

ive used a sewing machine before and the bobbin is very important in regular sewing machines. It is like a doughnut shaped version of a spool of thread that you put in the compartment beneath the needle in order to sew the underside of the fabric making the top thread stay in the fabric and ultimately tying the pieces of fabric together. I learned to sew in like 6th grade, we started learning with sheets of paper and we didn't even get thread until the teacher taught us how to make straight lines, corners, zig zag versus straight line stitch, ect. but we used older sewing machines, my mom bought a newer model sewing machine and it gets jammed and the thread breaks just like that toy one you got, but not as much lol and the lever is also a bit short, but sewing is easier when you sit lower i guess. BTW when you sew your suppose to sew forward 2 stitches, change it too reverse and sew 2 stitches back to make a "knot" so your thread doesn't just pull out of the fabric. In order to make a corner stop at the corner and if your needle is in the air use big wheel to lower it into the fabric, ALWAYS turn towards yourself, if you turn away you could break it. that's a tip for all sewing machines. lift pedal and rotate fabric, put pedal back down and start sewing again. The pedal that holds your fabric in place is called a foot and you don't need to have it down, sometimes if you have a loose stitch ot something the thread of that loose stitch can get stuck on the foot, but the foot is great for control. Hope that helps :3 Now I wanna sew something....

First sewing machine was my mom's slightly broken sewing machine that would only do straight stitch. I think thrift-store-machine-of-the-week would outperform most kit machines, and be less frustrating for a child to use :S

The reason it doesn't work is because you need the bobbin, without it then the thread won't stay in the material . Plus : RIP presser foot & foot control - you will be remembered

7:30 it’s says “remove tab first” on the blue dahinky on the bottom half if you can see it.

You need a bobbin. You have to have 2 threads otherwise it has nothing to attach to. One from under the fabric and one from over. And the knot themselves in a braid like fashion. And that's how it works. No bobbin no braiding. This is a " not everything included kit"

I have used kits from them before and it worked really well

Sewing machines are actually easy to use(for me, Idk about anyone else), I made a duffel bag on my first try, It's a lot quicker than sewing by hand, but this kit is the complete opposite. My hand-stitched bags from when I was five now seem amazing compared to what someone can do with this kit. Also, a bobbin is completely necessary, to those of you who do not know, A bobbin is the secondary roll of thread that sits below the presser foot in a sewing machine. It is what comprises the second length of thread as you’re sewing. It's not you Moriah, you just need a bobbin.

When I was a kid, a children's machine was just smaller and brightly colored. No safety plastic. This sad excuse for a machine would never teach a kid how to properly use a machine and sew with it

My girl that kit is terrible, like Salty Crafter would say: a craft kit should include everything. The bobin is absolutely necessary for machine sewing because it makes a chain between the top thread and the bottom bobin thread. Also that fabric is a not-woven fabric, useful for certain crafts, not recommended for clothing and a fabric I wouldn't recommend for beginners

I had a hello kitty thing like this. It was actually really good. I had it years ago and idk what happened to it but I loved it sew (hah get it?) so much.

You should try the sew cool kit, it is really good and it comes with felt fabric and no thread the needle just pokes through the fabric and binds it together I don't really know how to explain it but it is really awesome

I'm 11 when I was 9 I was very inspired by sewing so my dad bought me a singer's modern sewing machine and I am now a very good at it I even sell a lot of things I sew. I sew masks for my dad's company. So it's easy to sew whether it's a sewing machine or hand sewing it's really easy

that silver thing is to help put the thered though the needle eye it helps a lot when i use it put it though the back then put your therd though then pull the thing out there you have it

You tightened the thread nob down so hard the thread couldn't slide and actually be stitched. I can't tell you how many hours I've been frustrated by doing the exact same thing 🙃

The manual thing that she was trying to use to sew with the machine by cranking it back and forth is just for lifting the needle up and down if you need to get the fabric out from under or hold it in place. I only know this because I was in Home EC last year and we basically had to learn the anatomy of our old sewing machines in class before actually sewing

i was watching this while quilting on a real sewing machine lmao the problem is that it doesn't have a bobbin; the bobbin and the spool of thread working together kind of wrap the two strands of thread together on the bottom of the fabric so it doesn't pull apart during each stitch. any sewing machine that doesn't use two strands or more of thread simply will not make stitches that hold. (there's some pretty neat gifs of how it works if you search "sewing machine bobbin gif" on google!) if you get a chance to try a real sewing machine, you should, it does definitely make life easier; some fussy things still need to be sewn by hand but overall it just makes sewing SO much easier.
