First honest review. Others made it seem like anyone would see big gains in effort spent and running speed. Sad really. Anyway. Thank you. U saved me 800$
With this level of exo you still need to lift your leg then whatever software it has tries to predict your movement. Maybe the exoM might be what you want since it autonomates more movement than this.
I think Assist Mode will be the main purpose of this device for elderly people and people recovering from leg surgeries. It will be an additional technique to using physical therapy treatments.
For someone who isn't mobility limited, something like this seems like the added weight of it would negate most benefits. if someone IS mobility limited, seems like this product isn't there yet to truly help them.
Serious? Because of 1kg weight? Absolutely not. If it would weight 10kg, sure. But not 1kg😂😂 And 27kmh speed for 25km long is very nice. Faster than e-bike driver. 😂😂
@@jonatan_1991 this isn't a full replacement for leg movement though. if you can run at 27mph, it can help you slightly at keeping that pace. something heavier might actually be more useful because it could compensate for it's added weight and more, autobalance on uneven terrain, enable speed beyond the human limits, etc.
@@jonatan_1991 Those specs really run completely counter to how it performs in the video. it's possible is can perform better, but it's also possible they are based on preproduction estimates or ideal circumstances that don't reflect real life. considering it's a kickstarter i'd lean towards the later.
It's not quite there yet it feels like it needs to cover more of the legs but I have a hypershell not a dynsys. You still need to support your own body and pull yourself forward with these hiking exo.
I didn't know such things existed until today. Oh, I've seen some futuristic looking Japanese efforts but they looked overly designed, heavy and quite expensive. I'm with others who say that this isn't quite there yet, BUT OMG it doesn't look to far off from a really helpful and useful walking aid. I have MD that's progressive. I can still walk, but it's getting very difficult to get around. A simple curb/single step up, is too difficult for me now. I use my hands, in my pockets, pushing on my thighs, to better walk and be stable. This looks similar to what that does for me. I wish I was near Phoenix as I would really like to test this out. Can you try getting up from a chair and tell me if it gives you any aid at all ? I can't do that now without pushing off a table/walker.
I just tried it with the chair and, unfortunately, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even try to assist-probably because it doesn't recognize that movement. I suppose that could be added with a software update, but I'm not confident that it would do much in that scenario even if it were trying to. Sorry...
@@serialhobbyism_official Thank you for the quick replay and I should have thanked you for this video first. Like another commenter, your video was an honest review and very helpful. One more question, does this unit/motor only left your thigh/leg UP, or does it also Push Down on your thigh/leg?
@@pgrutube Happy to help! It does push down, too. But to me, I feel that much less when walking on flat, level ground. It is more noticeable when walking uphill.
Do you know which model you had? The Lite or The Carbon? The DNSYS X1 Carbon has higher max wattage output than the Lite, is why I ask. Maybe it offers more power than your reviewed model? Thanks.
Someone has asked similar question on Kickstarter. It just works similar to a pedal assist that's why the range is longer since battery usage isn't as demanding. Same way you get more range from a bike peddle assist compared to a bike going on throttle. They say that they design the motors themselves, which makes the motors very efficient. As a result, the battery can support long distance.
I got a hypershell . they're real the company just doesn't have the machines for mass production yet I was one of the first 40 with one I waited like 2 years :) but when it came it got here fast, after it shipped it only took 3 days standard shipping
@@Mors_Ontologicanice, i'm still waiting. i wasnt able to get one as a backer, but i pre-ordered after seeing it on CES this year. i guess ill be the last to get my unit. I also bought a pre-order dnsys x1 carbon pro. due hopefully october. I'm buying it for my father. had oartial hip replacement on the right 3 months ago. maybe will help him walk and recover faster?
There's another unit called Hypershell. I wonder how it stacks up to this one. I have mobility issues and have been researching these to aid in walking. Even a 10% reduction in effort sounds promising. Does it only pull the leg up or does it pull and help push back down?
Unfortunately this is the only one I’ve tried, so I can’t compare it. It does assist in both ways (lifting and pushing back down). When walking on flat ground, I mostly noticed the lifting. When hiking and going up him, I noticed the pushing more. Feel free to ask any more questions you have! And if you happen to be in Phoenix, you’re welcome to try it for yourself!
@@serialhobbyism_official Thanks for the info! I'm way up in Canada but appreciate the offer. I just missed CES 2024 where I could have given a few different models a try. If I can think of anything else I will come back and ask.
I have a hypershell. I like using the fitness mode. It helps if you walk a lot I do about 18 miles every day 5 days a week at work it's power is adjustable. You really feel it help when your thighs and legs are already tired. It doesn't move your entire leg maybe the military grade exoM might help better since it cups the foot. You still gotta walk and take the weight of your body on your feet. :) you really see the difference once your legs are burned out.
You still need to walk but it's also like a supportive belt. These things really kick your legs up and down it forces you into a marching form so it's gonna make you more flexible. If these things extended past the knee and down the calf and foot it would feel different. If anything get the military grade stuff once it comes out.
well, that's disappointing, but I already half expected that it won't be that useful since it only assist your upper part of the legs. Just count it as a 1st half step toward better exoskeleton... I guess
There's the exoM which is armored up and military grade look into that its design is visibly more assisting. The machine covers the waist, thighs, and even down to the calves and foot.
Ty for this vid . I cancelled my pledge and really had my hopes up that this would help my disability/ mobility . Just gotta wait for better tech. Thanks for honest review
If you had a disability I would not take this review very seriously. Wait for production model maybe test it yourself. I have a disability myself anything improving the slightest is a win for me.
so you're telling me that the tiny motors and flimsy structural connections to the leg attachments are going to make you a super human? I just dont feel like such a small motor has anywhere near enough power to do anything.
Yep, that's pretty much it! I wouldn't say it is flimsy, but you're right that there just isn't enough power for it to feel like it is really doing a lot
Ha, I think you nailed it. I was so excited when I got it, but found it a bit disappointing. It isn't BAD, really. It just doesn't live up to my hopes. I want a full Aliens-style mech suit that can crush cars or something!
@@serialhobbyism_official , just observ yourself and try to see if it's a common thing to swing one arm only(the left one) and if it's true, you'll see some different causes, ask a doctor about it! It means something for sure, if it was just a couple of moments maybe it doesn't mean anythingñ
@@OtterFlys definitely was designed for failure. As mentioned looking for entertainment. Watching it for me was not entertaining was painful. But again I tend to have a positive view of life someone making things so complex when they are not and complaining the whole video about even nature. I don’t think is the intended buyer for this thingy anyway. I do respect it. Is good to be out of my comfort zone.
I promise, I wasn’t making it seem complicated on purpose. It was genuinely confusing and I thought it was important for viewers to know that. But hey, there are plenty of people out there that will only say positive things in reviews in order to maintain good relationships with the manufacturers!
I’ve been keeping an eye on that company too. But their product hasn’t hit the market yet, even after a year’s delay. Plus, they’ve totally revamped the original design🤣
Wow, you sure made this so much harder than it needed to be. If you’re that mechanically challenged maybe you should stay away from technical activities
Lol, if you know anything about my background, this statement is really funny. I take it that you backed the Kickstarter campaign? Happy to hear what I should have done from someone mechanically gifted!
Also from the sound it made when he tried to turn up the power, he only made it halfway there. So I don't trust his judgement of it if he didn't even try the highest mode.
I don’t think mechanically challenged was for engineering background. It was a painful experience watching you ;) Is like the opposite of a review. I guess some people will like it. I agree you made it way more difficult than it looks like great effort! The resistance mode would have been interesting. I don’t think is a walk for me device. If you wanted that maybe review a Tesla. I am sure you would make that experience painful as well ;) It is an art! Great content. Is good to have your view as well! Thank you!
Also checking out their kickstarter. their goal was only $5k to create and distribute this. Seems to me like they just set a very easily achievable goal so that they can collect their kickstarter funds and launched what appears to be an all out marketing campaign. I smell scam here and am betting they will pocket kickstarter money and dissappear.
