Story time: I got left by my wife over a year ago. I ended up in a vast depression that had me down the dark road of day drinking, passing out, waking up, drinking more. Instead of realizing I was poisoning myself, and that's why my stomach hurt, I would take it as hunger and go get a shit ton of fast food. back to drinking, on a cycle of 3 to 4 days. couple days off from it when I had my daughters, and as soon as I was alone again I was back at it. Ashamed to say I weighed nearly 400 lbs after months of this, and not much muscle to be honest. Then I started watching Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw. That's when I found out about you and was inspired by your stories. Working hard and going through ups and downs in the pursuit of your dreams. That was the motivation I needed to get back to trying to lose weight and bettering myself. Depression is a bitch, and thanks to you and your friends, it literally saved my life. Now I have the motivation to get better for not only myself but my two little girls. Seeing you coming back from an injury and refusing to quit has poured gasoline on that fire in me just a little bit more. Thank You Robert.

FWIW. I had my left shoulder completely rebuilt in 80. By 81 I was in the Army. After 4 years there I spent the next 24 as a street cop. At 62 today I'm still in the gym lifting and loving life. What you're experiencing is absolutely normal. For quite a while it felt as if my shoulder no longer belonged to me. It was weird. It also passes as your strength returns. The more you lift the faster it returns. Do what your doctor says. Follow your rehab program and you'll be back in Monster mode in no time. I know I don't have to tell you to stay motivated, you're a master of motivation, but Do Not Get Discouraged. Especially if you have a set back. We're all in your corner. Kick that injury's ass and take your crown back.

Happy to see you back at it man. I just finished recovering from a labrum tear in my right shoulder, no surgery but it still took a year for it to feel right, now it's stronger than ever. Just registered for my first strongman comp here in Oregon which has been a dream of mine that I'm finally living. Love the vids man, I've looked to you for a lot of inspiration.

OBI Awesome to see you healing up! I have had multiple should issues, but knock on wood never needed surgery. Here are some tips and things that helped me out during shoulder rehab: 1. Start with small focused movements (i.e. Range of Motion), and light weight. Really focusing on smaller movements with lighter weight was huge for me, then gradually increase ROM and weights. 2. Pool work was also amazing, provides just that extra buoyancy when executing different movements in the water. 3. Sleeping position is also huge, once I started actually paying attention to how I was positioned while sleeping my shoulder felt better upon waking in the morning. 4. I noticed during the video you stated it just felt a little weird or awkward. I know exactly what you are talking about, its just a feeling of something is a little off and that creates a feeling of weakness. One thing that I noticed is to start paying attention to "tightness" in the shoulder, the when exercising and rehabbing shoulder, after awhile the tightness will be less, and less. 5. Lastly, patience and then a little more patience. It sucks not being your best but a mistake I made during my first shoulder rehab is I left that feeling overcome me and I pushed it too hard and reinjured it, the process is slow but if you are patient, present, and observant you will get back to where you want to be. Take Care Brother, look forward to seeing you compete again!

Robert, I greatly admire your strength and drive, it encourages me to push harder. I have had many many broken bones over the years. But I do not go to the doctor. Mostly I heal them on my own. Many many years ago I tore my rotator cuff went to the doctor for that they told me I'd never lift my arm above horizontal without surgery. I worked with it and worked with it until I got it to almost 100% (no surgeries). Many years and several broken bones later, in the winter of 2020 to summer 2021 I broke my leg, twice, yes two separate times, uuggg I know. Didn't go to the doc for it, been working on it myself. I've been very very sick since August 2021, bedridden several times since then. I'm coming to the front now though. I'm starting to rehabilitate my legs. I would never wish any injury on anyone. Having said that I'm glad to be going through this Rehabilitation with you. You keep posting brother and I'll keep watching. We'll fix these problems together. Stay safe and stay strong my friend.

I'm 63 and going to physical therapy for a rotator cuff injury (no surgery). Those simple little exercises can kick my ass. So I loved this video. Robert I think it's great you are working with your doctor to get back to being the Strongest Man of the world. I am down right now also, my problem is my doctor is the VA and they are not the best at listening. In 2014 I got down and ended up in a wheelchair, the VA would not even send me to a neurologist when I kept telling them in PT that my strength was not the problem, my problem was a disconnect between my brain and my legs. After seeing a military doctor they sent my to a neurologist that said he could do nothing until my back was fixed, I had three back surgeries and after a year and a half in the wheelchair I was walking with a cane in weeks. I don't know what's going on right now but I am back to using a walker to get around. I know I need to start at the basics again and build up strength but the pain is getting worse and I am barely able to get from one room to another. After 20 years as an Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Tech, manually lifting 250lbs bombs repeatedly and hooking them to logging chains to be hauled to the disposal area where they were manually stacked again to be blown up to being a 58 year old man that can't curl 15lbs 5 times is very discouraging.

I had a stage 2 rotator cuff tear and managed to heal it without surgery using the peptides BPC-157 and TB4. After a few months of PT exercises and those peptides I'm back to 100% function of my shoulder lifting heavy like I was a kid again. You can get them from a Dr. prescription through a compounding pharmacy or order yourself online. I wish you a speedy recovery!!

As a 35 year old dude, I have no doubt Obie can come back. I had a back and hip injury where I almost lost the ability to walk. I now feel fantastic. It takes time but your body has great propensity to heal itself if you do the right things. If your young and going hard, you're going to get injured. It happens. Get back up. Fix yourself and get back to kicking ass.
