Old-school Load Testing, and new-fangled Internal Resistance calculations. They all work! Nice to be able to check your batteries before they let you down. **8:14 milliohms, not megaohms.

I use a combination of #4 and #3. #4 is my first unit I grab because it is small and easy to carry in my bag. #3 gets dusted off when I want more confidence to know if the battery is good or bad. As you said, no one is perfect, just more information.

I guess you could probably take the carbon pile out of one of those cheap ones (the second tester) and put it in the VAT-40

@@GregWellwood Get your students to do the math. 12.6v / 0.00566 ohms -> 2226 Amps. Yikes.
