Everytime you used the Armstrong, you were in the best position with the best leverage. I have to think that made it feel easier to break that lug loose.
Your signature intro... "Yeah, whatever" 🤣 too funny... When you said you had a favorite I thought you were leaning towards the Pittsburgh cause of the handle, looks like you'd have a better grip cause of the material. Tata... for now 😄
I'd like to see Proto, SK, Crescent (import & vintage) and Irega (Spain). An amazing adjustable was the D-slot Williams Superjustable (no longer made, although Williams survives).
I'm almost positive that the Armstrong Wrench has a W. F near the end of the handle. Western Forge ( used to make tools for Craftsman) is the last American tool company that makes adjustable wrenches in the USA.
I have a really cheap set of adjustable end wrenches and they're terrible. I'm in the market for a new set. You gave me something to think about, thanks.
Armstrong is an industrial standard tool company so they are built to keep American companies in business. Not the story with Apex Tools as they shut down Armstrong and Allen to save a dime. Apex will warranty out the Armstrong for a Gearwrench, but it won't be near the wrench (or any tool for that matter) that the Armstrong was.
Johnny G not if they are made in Taiwan or china. Armstrong was always an industrial tool brand that was made in USA. I'd love to watch a death match between the Armstrong and Gearwrench adjustable wrenches.
@@NaztyNapkinz Armstrong was made by Armstrong. Gearwrench doesn't make anything, they rebrand made in china and made in taiwan tools that other companies also sell under their names, Some are very good, (Taiwan) some are very poor (China).
I'm very partial to the Tekton tools man. I wish they had more USA made stuff, but I love their website with the rewards program. And I've never had to but I fear their warranty process is very simple
Dude. I'm really curious what you do for a living. Every single video you're in that damn international. Get back to me bro, love your channel keep it up.
Great video thanks brother. I like the comparison. I think at 200 ft. Pounds it's in the grip. I really wouldn't want something cutting into my hand with or without gloves. I like that they didn't open up. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
..Yes, I buy most my tools off Ebay anyways...I sell on Ebay, also, (various used stuff) and save the money in my Paypal account to buy stuff/ tools I covet..er.., I mean "need" ;). That way I don't use money out of my regular budget/money; I don't like using debit/credit cards to make online purchases, anyway. I don't use Amazon, as they don't take Paypal, and they only have new stuff(I often buy expensive tools used). I don't sell on Amazon, either, as they don't let you sell used items, and they are even worse than Ebay on stiffing you on fees and restrictions. Sometimes Facebook Marketplace is a good place to buy used tools....@@mdlee52
Oh the sale on gear wrench is still going on this month at advance auto parts. Along with a bogo on brake clean. I usually buy at least 4 cases of brake clean during the bogo' S. Huffing ain't easy!
I was once sealed into an envelope made of concrete that was the floor of my dad's shop. . . . and another time attacked by stick figure men made out of hay, but I wasn't afraid, I just wanted to read the writing on their arms and legs. . . Huffing aint for the weak!
Hey mdlee52 was wondering how you can set up the amazon.com store front with your name I want to set my own Amazon store front up with tools I recommend but not sure how to do so
Cool you were able to get that comparison video done before the truck owner came back to his truck to shoo you off! I have a bunch of Crescent USA nutrounders, don't think I've paid for a single one. A refrigerator repair man left one at our house and 15 mins later when I called him he said "keep it". the rubber end was a little messed up so i cut it off, and regretted it, because the "Crescent USA" was on the rubber, but NOT stamped on the tool so now it looks like a generic made in china one. Should have just xacto knifed the bad part off instead of the whole grip. Why is stamping going the way of the dodo?
4:59 “Tekton at 150 pounds”.!? Wow that thing is hefty, I’m not throwing that in my 🧰 it’s going to kill the drawer slides. 5:50 “200 Pound feet”.!? Damn those are some heavy feet. 8:45 “200 Foot pounds”.!? Not too bad. How much horsepower? It’s ____ pounds foot. _____ Pounds at 1 FOOT away from the center of the fastener. Can you guess how much force is put on a fastener, if 200 pounds is put on the handle of a ratchet 24 inches away from the center of that fastener?
I have the 18" adjustable wrench. Not bad for the money. Not the greatest or strongest, but decent wrench to get the job done. I reviewed it on my channel.
Really nice review. 200 lbs of torque is a lot for a small 1/2 inch handle!! I used one from channellock a few days ago and it was really good. Maybe a bit more expensive but the quality is there. Thanks for the video 👍👍
I checked Fastenal's website and they only have 4 wrenches that are Armstrong and none of them are adjustable. Apex really screwed everyone over when they shut down the Armstrong and Allen plants. I've dealt with Cripe when they had a website and they have always been good at getting me my tools. I think they just run the fleabay store to make combining shipping easier. Shipping costs was always a pain in the ass with Cripe. I think they are trying to change that by just doing the ebay store only and not having a separate website.
I got mine years ago and I don’t remember what I paid and not sure of today’s quality but here’s the link then www.amazon.com/Stanley-Proto-J795-3-Piece-Adjustable-Wrench/dp/B001HWDURA/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1531928727&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=proto+adjustable+wrench+set&dpPl=1&dpID=412Xh2Rk6-L&ref=plSrch
I think I bought mine long enough ago that $15 seems like a high price. I want to say they were about $10 for the set, but then I use the 20% off coupon. Still not a bad deal at all, though.
