Testing the Collision avoidance of my DJI Mini 4 Pro and auto Return To Home (RTH) (green line) after getting it back from DJI Repair. Even though I had the RTH altitude set to 246 feet (above the trees), the drone returned right through the trees, after a little confusion getting its bearings. Fun to watch it follow the green line.

Great test - but after searching comments, I did see anyone ask: What was you setting for RTH Altitude. The drone did not seem to be seeking a path upwards, but closely following your path out. On Mavic 3 Pro, this is labeled Advanced RTH. Obviously not in straight line RTH here, but that altitude setting is what I am curious about.

Thanks! The RTH Altitude was set at 246 feet, but it was on Optimal RTH. It did not see a clear path upward, like Kevin's did, so it stayed down close to the ground.

I tried it again today, and it really went crazy on the way back home, getting confused a few times, but made it home OK.

Dude! That's gotta be the coolest test I've seen so far for the RTH... I'm 100% gonna try this... I have the perfect spot already picked out in my head... Very cool, man!

Hahaha, thanks, man! Faith had a little trouble finding the direction for home at first. She was confused, but once she found it, she almost followed the same route to get back. I love that green path weaving through the woods! BTW, DJI didn't fix my original RC 2 controller. They sent me a new one.

You're making me want a mini 4 pro more, I really want to upgrade from my mini 3, which has no omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and much worse camera :/ But the whole Mini series is very good at stabilising itself, that's quite cool. I love how dji have managed to fit more and more features, all while keeping it sub 250g

Question: If there were a collision would DJI Care replace the M4P as a replacement (+copay)??

Yes, as long as it is on the DJI Care Refresh plan.

Thanks, I'm flying the DJI Mini 4 Pro with 360° obstacle avoidance. It never ceases to amaze me! Believe me, I wouldn't be trying this if I didn't have DJI Care Refresh either.

Very nice test of RTH through the trees with the Mini 4 Pro. I'm loving my Mini 4 Pro too. The waypoint flights are really nice too.

Thanks Kevin! I'm loving mine, also, but I haven't tried Waypoints yet. I need to do that, but I'm having too much fun dodging trees and being amazed at how well she finds her way home through all these trees.

How you set the rth on controler how high you set it thanks

I have the RTH altitude set at 245 feet, but it doesn't go that high because it's set on "Optimal" RTH. So it only goes as high as it needs to. If it sees an opening to the sky, it usually goes through that opening, but only high enough to clear the trees.

Thanks, I believe it could, as long as one of those tiny "invisible" dead branches doesn't reach out and grab it. I want to try it again, as soon as the weather clears up. We've been getting rain & snow every day since I did that test. I'll post it either way.

Well, I tried it 3 more times yesterday, and it failed on the second, crashing into one of those little bare branches. Fortunately, a soft landing on the snow and no damage other than a few small nicks on a couple of prop blades.

5 crashes in the last 9 days, but she's fine. but all the crashes were on manual flight. 7 successful RTH flights with no crashes while on RTH.

That's crazy wild. Enjoyed the cool video. No way my Mavic2 can come close to that. in wooded areas i have to set rth to hoover.

Unfortunately, one of those tiny branches did crash my drone on today's flight. But no damage, other than some small nicks on a couple of prop blades, as there was snow on the ground for a soft landing.

This thing can fly into deep forest, would you mind if you test range in the forest too? I mean it can rth but not by trigger, but bc of lost signal

Yes, that was going to be one of my next tests, but it won't go that far before signal loss, as the trees really block the signal. I did make it out to 1187 feet and hit RTH with one bar on my last flight. I'll upload that one soon.

@@gama45 i know trees will block the signal but i am really curious, mini 4 can be my next order if i can see it can go through the forest safely and rth safely. You are the only one maybe who test that by doing advance rth test, signal penetration test in the forest. I am waiting ,sir

@@gama45 too bad the forest is just too clean 😄 we need tighter obstacles, in my country, forest is super tight, so maybe if i do the same test the range would be much shorter lol. I hope you will keep uploading videos with low Flying style, i really love that

@@FeryPranata76-sn2ew Yeah, our forest used to be much denser too, but they came through and cleaned it up to lower the fire danger. A few years ago, we lost the town of Paradise, California, a few miles north of here, when a forest fire wiped out the whole town. 😢
