Today I test out Createx Wicked Colors Quick Silver and Gold Chrome Paints.
By the name alone I knew the silver wasn't chrome but the gold is actually called chrome. These are easy to spray, no thinning needed just spray them straight out of the bottle. I also add color to the silver to some very good results.

What is really cool is they are made in East Granby Conn!They are really nice people and will anwser the phone with any questions! The Autoborne sealers are REALLY nice too!

W357 Quicksilver - Billet aluminum best applied over a gloss white or black base. For best chrome-like effect, apply over a gloss white base, allow a minimum of 6-hours air dry before top-coating with a gloss clear. W357 same as 4104 Quciksilver. Spray out-of-the-bottle with a 0.3mm tip-size or larger ~ 30 psi.

Man those are nice looking!! I’m a goalie and airbrush goalie masks. I use createx then clear with 2k spray max. I love these colors I want to try!!

Great video. It's good to know how the quicksilver stacks up against other paints. It sounds like it's between a chrome and standard metallic. Not quite chrome but still no metal flake. I can see why it's a great base for candy colors.

From the looks of it, mixing a clear or solid of yellow or gold into the Quick Silver might give you a nice gold plating look. I'm building the Daban 1/100 Phenex right now and I have to admit I think I might like the less-reflective, more metal-plating look more which you could probably achieve with the aforementioned mixture.

The scuff pad is called scotch brite they come in 2 grades the grey which is considered their extra fine and redish looking one that is medium roughness.

Great video, as usual. Good you find time and resources to do these tests, so we don't have to! ;) One question regarding your Patriot 105 set up. It seems that you've changed the air cap and the air guard/needle cap, cause it's not the standard ones. Are these from Omni series (which are also made by Badger anyways)? How dos it work? Any improvement over the standard Patriot's air cap?

I don’t know about the quick silver but I do have the quick silver chrome createx recommends a 1.1.1 mix of the quick silver chrome with any candy2o color and the 4040 bleed checker for metalizers. That was a really nice blue though that you did.

Great informative video! I plan on painting one of my fishing reels. You think the 2k clear coat will hold up against exposure to saltwater? If so which one do you recommend?

Here's a 3M chart for you! SCOTCHBRITE GRIT CHART 3M Scotch Brite Nylon Pads: 7445 - White pad, called Light Duty Cleansing - (1000) 1200-1500 grit 7448 - Light Grey, called Ultra Fine Hand - (600-800) 800 grit. 6448 - Green (?), called Light Duty Hand Pad - (600) 600 grit 7447 - Maroon pad, called General Purpose Hand - (320-400) 320 grit 6444 - Brown pad, called Extra Duty Hand - (280-320) 240 grit 7446 - Dark Grey pad, called Blending Pad (180-220) 150 grit 7440 - Tan pad, called Heavy Duty Hand Pad - (120-150) 60(?) Blue Scotch-Brite is considered to be about 1000 grit. (The value inside the parentheses is directly from 3M.) 3M Chart Less Aggressive --------> More Aggressive 7445 7448 6448 7447 6444 7446 7440 Finer Finish --------> Coarser Finish

Good video! If you haven't tried it out yet I'd suggest giving Mr. Color GX Clear Gold a look? You airbrush it over gloss black (or white) and it gives you a really nice gold.

I have a bunch of Createx paints and I really really like them. I admit, they are not as high quality as my vallejo/tamiya/mr.color/citadel paints. But whenever I need to paint a large panel without too many tiny details, using Createx with an airbrush works perfectly.

If you like Vallejo I recomend Italeri paints they come from the same factory if there are paints you dont find in the Vallejo range or just in general. You also get more paint for the money with Italeri.

@@statoilbensin2190 Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely check them out. I really like using Vallejo, but I do find the Vallejo color range to be very limited (at least compared to citadel). So that might solve the problem :)

@@elirane85 Yes I think it might help you, also you can mix Italeri with Vallejo without any problems, you can use vallejo flow improver in Italeri paint to make it last longer on youre airbrush needle before drying.

I have been doing the spoon practice. I personally found a LOVE for the flat colors, especially Mr. Color flat black #33. I have been learning about the need for primers so it does not come off with minor friction. Lastly, I hope your SprayGunner affiliate link works as with some sponsor links they remain in the URL, I do not know how it all works and hope you get the credit from the stuff I purchased from them.

Hey, man...so I have a question. I have some USBs that are like plastic cassette tapes that I am selling with my music on them. I want to paint a few of them Gold to sell as "Limited Edition" copies...can you point me in the right direction as to what paint and method would work best for this application? I came from the fine art side of airbrushing then got into models and miniatures. So when I tried Createx I did not like them, still don't. That though is not the paints fault. It does what it is advertised to do and does it well. Its just not for me. I don't use any glossy colors, everything I do is either matte or satin finish. So for me its almost always acrylics. Though recently I did get some G Paint for my Gunpla and I love that stuff. Its perfect for that application. I find these product reviews interesting because its great to hear different perspectives on this stuff. Also would still love to get your perspective on Molotow One4All as a primer.

What would you recommend for a clear coat on these? Would a duplicolor 1k be okay? Thanks for sharing.

It's tough to recommend a clear for colors like this as it always takes away the shiny plated look. Aqua Gloss by Alclad is a good choice.

@Barbatos Rex I'm looking to 3D print and paint an Armorer helmet (from the Mandalorian show). Her helmet is gold with some weathering. However, there are parts that are very shiny, too. I'm thinking of using the createx wicked gold chrome. I saw your video, and it looked like a great color with decent durability. And, you mentioned that it looks good with clear coats. Perhaps this is the route I should take? I also really like your gold chrome technique, but that may not be necessary since the createx may be all that I need. Thoughts?
