I’ve never used Golden high flow acrylics. Recently I came about doing some plastics painting and have been looking for this type of demonstration video. This video is amazing and answered pretty much all of my questions in terms of usage and durability. Thank you so much for reviewing these paints. I've been using their airbrush mediium for thinning craft acrylics with good results. And I tried a bottle of their Fluid Acrylics for brushing and was most impressed with its smoothness and coverage. I think I'll be hitting Micheals soon to try more.

After using multiple brands, Golden are my go to paints now. I have most of both the Fluids range and High Flows. Fluids are easier to brush (thicker), but with the airbrush medium, they airbrush very smooth as well. High flows is mostly for ease of use... Open bottle, some drops in the airbrush and go. I am not found of their metallics though, I prefer Vallejo Metal Color as those use aluminum instead of mica. I use the Carbon Black as undercoat for all my metals and shifters. Be sure to check the fluorescent paints from Golden (High Flow), those are really good.

Do you spray the Carbon Black directly on the plastic (ie as the "primer") or should you use proper primer first?

@@scoobydruid I generally use a primer first (molotow black, mecha black primer or pro acryl black primer). Then I spray the Carbon Black high flow over it.

I've been using golden acrylics for almost 10 years. I'll even thin down their heavy body acrylics to airbrush.I can use their iridescent silver fine through a .030mm tip, no problem.

I just tried Createx Autoborne sealer white and it has very good coverage. It sticks like crazy to styrene plastic too.

Excellent review. I've been thinking of getting Golden High Flows. The Titan Buff is 99% match to GW Wraithbone using Golden's color match. GW Gray Seer = 40% Neutral Gray 5 / 60% Titanium White.

Great test! If I'm remembering right, Golden carries interference colors with different flake sizes which you could get some interesting effects with. Definitely looks like a quality paint and I think that Dick Blick also carries their line.

You're not mistaken I have a few of the interference paints ( normal non thinned )and normal colours for a while had trouble getting the medium or any thinner due to store being closed for ages ( 😷😞thanks pandemic )

Nice display of the colour range. It might have been beneficial to spay one half of each spoon black beforehand to get a more informed result on coverage.

golden acrylics are fantastic paints. I use them on custom action figures. their so flat color's are the best matte acrylic paint i have tried(so far). they are a tad bit pricey but i really love these paints & dont scratch or peel very easy( of course they can if you are rough with it) or anything like that even without a sealer coat

Golden used to make a High Load line and that was amazing until they discontinued it. I suspect the new So Flat line is the replacement for the High Load.

MarcoFrisoniNJM uses this brand on some of his projects. The fluorescent green and shade gray (which is very translucent) look awesome. I can't wait to try all of them out. edit: Another brand with amazing metallics is Turbo Dork. Their entire line is either metallic, color shift, or metallic color shift. Also, prime/base with brown for gold metallic paint.

I have lots of Golden products I have the whole range I use them for some things they are top quality I thin the with my homebrew thinner to get them to work I did a lot of research on them

Have you ever done a review on Golden Fluid paints? They're a bit thicker and need to be thinned, but in the toy model prototype studio I used to work in, those were our go-tos. I'm questioning now why we used those in a professional setting, when it seems lacquer based are the more common choice by hobbyists.

Goldens are pretty top shelf paints. Michaels craft store usually has a sale on them. transparent grey is amazing.

@@JohnSmith-rt5yq spraying with an airbrush underneath to give more shadows. I saw 2 videos on Golden transparent grey here. Search it. One guy used it over bare plastic gunpla and the other uses it for black metallic armor over VMC Duraluminum. 2 light coats over a brighter metallic looks good for black steel

Barbatos I ordered a primer by Revell called Aqua color primer but the name is misleading since it contains the chemical 1 metoxy-2-propanol witch is what is used in lacquers. The primer is pre thinned I hope it is as good as Mr surfacer or Tamiya liquid surface primer that need thinning. Have you tried it?

Hi there, I've been looking at these to tested on. I've painted Sazabi with craft acrylic paints before but not with Golden. I've been getting inconsistent base coat even though its from the same tube. My question is would this Golden High Flow provide consistent shades like those model paints? Cuz Vallejo is not that easy to get in my area. Thank You. Cheers.😀

Super late to this video, but I’ve just read that that airbrush medium isn’t designed for the high flow acrylics, and they have their own dedicated thinner to maintain the properties of the paint.

I've had golden paints since early 2020 took a while to learn to thin the normal non airbrush paints had medium on order ( store closed for pandemic just after😡😷 took forever to reopen ) seen the high flow on site but online only item so they will have to wait awhile until I can convince someone to order them for me 😭

I got the transparent purple and it's insanely thin to the point where it runs off all the corners and angles on my gundam peices even after they have been primed. Is that something that other people have experienced?

THANK YOU for making this video - im a daisy free rookie and just got my first rig, and my local shop sells this paint like crazy, and others, but i got several of these and i been watchin several of your other vids before i saw this. basically, i didnt know what i was going to buy before i went to the shop, then found this video. lol. so i was super happy to find this video. i spent all weekend getting things ready before i sprayed my first drop bcuz of you !! They really don't need thinning they are ready to airbrush out of the bottle even with a very small Needle most artists use a detail air brush with a very small needle point 2 and smaller I only thin them for changing the base color but I was told by Golden not to over thin them

Not sure why, these work perfectly on plastic and resin. I've had several people write me that use them on miniatures. So I say no worries there 👍
