In Kenya, that Kiswahili is the version we are taught in school and spoken in the coastal areas. Farook did better that most Kenyans would in this test. Well done!

Because in Kenya, and esp in the hinterland, there has been more emphasis on English than Swahili hence the more a person is educated the more they shy away from the language. Swahili has been relegated to a lesser language than English. Only recently have there been efforts to promote it but it has not picked up yet. The coast of Kenya is an exception though!

Doris and Farook I remember checking out the KiSwahili course on Duolingo and was surprised how relatively more easier the grammar is compared to most Indo-European languages. If I lived around more KiSwahili speakers, I would try to learn it actively. Right now, I'm just trying to maintain some basic competency in Spanish.
