My friends, today we're testing my homemade electric jet engine with different sized nozzles to maximize the power. I built and tested this electric jet engine in the last video so check it out if you missed it! I also improved my Arduino so that we can measure our results more effectively! Next video we'll be hooking up a new compressor so stay tuned!

My interpretation is that 0.72psi isn't enough pressure and plastic (particularly 3d printed) is unlikely to be able to handle the stress. I get that you're just trying to see what you can fo with a 3d printer, but thw answer is probably not alot. If you haven't already tried it (i skip through videos so miss details), carbon fibre reinforced filament might help, more strength would allow more rpm, diameter and design freedom.

I definitely agree that .72psi isn't nearly enough, but the issue is that the motor just isn't strong enough to make more rpm, let alone blow up the plastic. I'm working on a new design right now which should have a lot more power, and if the plastic can't handle it, I'll use fiberglass and resin to reinforce it. I think we're gonna make a lot of progress very soon!

You have optimal diameter now time to find optimal cone shape, getting those hot gases to spread out less will furthur increase preformance.

Oh that's a good idea! I'll see what I can come up with for the next video

how much is 182g of thrust? Seems my calculations aren't correct because I'm getting way less than what a leaf blower produces (roughly 25-40 Newtons for the backpack/ gasoline models)
@Neally
@Neally 5 месяцев назад
It's 1.78N... I think my compressor was suuuper inefficient because it's very leaky, and so it's not making nearly the kind of thrust that it should. I'm making a new compressor right now and it's already more producing a higher pressure than the old one, so I'm very eager to see it on the engine

The name of this engine is motorjet. It was used in aircrafts before the real jet engines developed. A gasoline engine compressor would be better?

Is it possible to go for higher thrusts.... With those? E.g 1000kg's of thrust.
@Neally
@Neally 4 месяца назад
A better compressor would help with thrust, but there's definitely a limit to how far we can push it

Did you manually scrape the data from the video frames?
@Neally

Yeah I went through frame by frame to record the highest values... I really need to get the Arduino to start recording it😂
