Yes Dan, turtles are intelligent. I had a red eared slider who worked out how to open the kitchen door by leaning against the wall at an angle and clawing at the door edge until it slightly opened. Once she had enough room, she wedged herself into the gap and forced the door open. From there, she went on an adventure and was usually found in the bathroom or the bedroom. She died on 30 May 2021 aged 29 years.😢 🐢
Mine is capable of that and other stuffs that makes you ask yourself how in the world is possible this reptiles can imagine, guess and behave like other animals. The thing I love mostly from my turtle is his curiosity and his determination in achieving his goals
Loved seeing this! The juveniles knew they needed to go back home and flipper knew she needed sum snacks 😂. But it goes to show the difference of priorities and socialization between age groups. More vids like this pls!
Hey Dan hope you're having a great Sunday. Love your vids. I also have lots of animals. 2 dogs, A cat, 2 goats 1 of which is pregnant so also an unknown number of babies. She is a pygmy so it's definitely up in the air. A rabbit named IVAR THE FLUFFIEST! A chestnut color horse, and a few head of cow. Enjoy the rest of your Sundayyyyy 💜🖤💜🖤💜🖤
I wonder if you could make a safe ramp with sides on it so they couldn't fall off...if they could make it back to their home on their own! That would be cool 😎 You could make it removable so you could just use it when you want. That way you aren't making it easier for pests to come and pester the turtles!
My father told me that when he was a little kid, there were a tortoise that had once fallen into a pit or dry well, but he couldn't reach it with his little arms. But then he thought of making a loop with his belt, and the tortoise knew instinctively to put its front leg into the loop and pushing so the loop would tighten around, and firmly hung it while my father got the tortoise out, and he was really astonished at the time ! Also our own tortoise Coco can be pretty smart knowing how to get our attention, when and where exactly to place himself to get out in the sun (by us opening the door for him)... but also pretty dumb trying during hours everyday to bite the turtles through the tanks XD" He's so exhausting sometimes like where does he find all the energy ?? XD
That was fun. I liked the one who sniffed your foot and ran away; definitely intelligent! ;-D Just kidding... It looked like the larger, older ones were more comfortable with being outside the tank, and were less panicky.
Hi guys, I recently rescued 2 lil yellow bellied slider turtles, they are adorable.. my question is that why my turtles neck is swelling up its like they are breathing fast but I googled and it was showing that turtle do cloacal respiration. Can anyone tell why this is happening its normal or should I go to vet?🥺 And Dan you're great i hope im half as good as you in handling my babies🥲
I'd love to see you turtle-safe some outer space so thry aren't having to worry about not being able to keep their reward once back in the tank? So then you can all hang out, literally. If you were able I'd turtle-safe some earth space and allow them to run free outdoors and feel the earth and grass and add even a little a beachy area and just kind of expose them to everything you're able to, a little at a time, seeing what they go to and what they're up to and you can do treat hunting still for stimulation and who know what you can do. But when it's nice out, why not? You can grill and play turtle tag. Animals and I really believe all of them, including us, were made to communicate people. A talking donkey and serpent wasn't hyperbole in earlier testament times testimonies. I'm dying to know if people saying that the unicorn references refer to orax but then why would call orax anything other than unicorn if that is what 🦄 which appears just by writing the word now so and "dragon" isn't otherwise reasoned away so why is "unicorn,", you know?
