I've used foam clay on a few dollcutomizing projects. It was some cheap stuff from a cheap toystore that started drying within minutes and was quite brittle. This looks much better!

So far it seems really good. I do wonder how it will hold up over time.

@@AndrewsClayCreations The oldest pieces I made with my cheap clay is about two years old now and I don't feel any significant change. The thicker parts are still slightly squishy and bendy while the thinner parts are quite brittle. I don't make toys to play with so that's ok.

Thanks for the info. I am making some squishies this week, but if they don’t last a long time, oh well.

Helga’s projectile eye is her secret weapon!😂. I want to try using this material to build a stop-motion puppet!🤔

Look out for flying eyeballs! When I make one with a wire in it, I will be sure to post a video so you can see how it turns out.

I will defo try it. As a stop motion animator. Only thing I'd me wanting is a white clay that youi can mix your own colour in and that's still bendy with armature.

Tried it and over time it turns just as hard and brittle as all the other foam clays😖 I was so happy when I found it that I ordered the 1.5 kg pack. Since tax and transport cost to Denmark are huge compared with the price. What a disappointment!!!

@@hestedroschen that is a sad story 😢

Well not the first product I've tested to replace baking foam latex, you can mix in some water based contact cement, and it'll leave it like a somewhat stiffer EVA foam. But still it will have poor stretching ability and because of this, have a tendency to break at bending joints. But pixiss statement "Air dries within 24-48 hours, does not lose it's flexibility after drying, but it does maintain shape." Is not true in regard of flexibility!!!

I'm just starting with foam clay. It's... weird.😂 I love it and i think it's a game changer for a lot of things, especially special FX and cosplay! It's just going to take some getting used to. It could just be me because you make it look just fine!🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Thanks, but I am still learning. I have used it with some success in other projects. I need to mess around with it some more. Btw - I love your profile pic. ❤️

Hi, do you think this would be the kind of medium I could use if I wanted create forms to store tools (pressing the tool into the foam to make an indent to it's shape)? I'm thinking I'd have to cut the bag away and spread it out into whatever outer container I wanted to store the tools in.
@AndrewsClayCreations
@AndrewsClayCreations 11 месяцев назад
I think it would work for that. They only issue you might have is the foam clay shrinks a bit when it cures. Without trying it, I don’t know if the shrinkage is enough to cause issues with what you want to do with it.
@TheLadybard
@TheLadybard 11 месяцев назад
Ah, ok. Yeah, I didn't think about shrinkage. Thanks for getting back to me. 👍

I got some clay like this from Walmart, but each color has a different texture to it. One has colorful tiny foam spheres. Another has large glitter pieces. They're pretty...but wish they didn't have the stuff inside...lol. Anyway, I ended up using an old D20 ice mold and it's not perfect, but it turned out so nice. This isn't the best for details, but it's really fun to work with.
@AndrewsClayCreations
@AndrewsClayCreations 2 года назад
Those sound like fun. I have one of those D20 molds, and I would love to try this stuff in it. Now I just need to figure out where I put that mold. 🤔
@MommaMiri
@MommaMiri 2 года назад
@@AndrewsClayCreations, just don't open the mold for at least three days. I opened mine after two. It was close to dry enough...on the outside, but not quite. Ended up off setting a few numbers. Otherwise, it's pretty perfect... 🥰
@AndrewsClayCreations

Thanks for the tip. I am casting a couple things right now using molds I have made, and I was going to take them out of the molds tomorrow cause that will be 48 hours, but now I think I will let them sit for a few extra days.
@MommaMiri
@MommaMiri 2 года назад
@@AndrewsClayCreations, if they're open air molds they should be fine. My D20 is a fully enclosed mold so air had an extra hard time getting to it...lol. But the longer they sit, the safer it will be. Can't wait to see the end product... 😊
@AndrewsClayCreations
@AndrewsClayCreations 2 года назад
They aren’t fully enclosed, but they don’t have a huge opening. I can give them a few extra days, and hopefully will still be able to get one done for a video next week. 😁

Think this would be good for making those cute foam purses without breaking smaller pieces on it?

I am not sure what those purses are. Is it something you use as an actual purse or is it just a decoration? Or something else?

Hi. New viewer. I was wondering if you can tell what your sanding tool is called and where I can get one. Thanks!
@AndrewsClayCreations
@AndrewsClayCreations 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching. I got mine in a craft kit, but if you search for “1/4 inch sanding detailer” on Amazon you can find similar ones. Another option might be sanding sticks. I haven’t tried them out, but they look like they will work to sand smaller things.

The foam clay has a nice blend to it. Have you tried printing on it, yet? also it will be cool to see ya work on toys

Not yet, I worked on two more projects yesterday, and ordered some fabric paint to paint those.
@hestedroschen
@hestedroschen 3 месяца назад
Curious - how would you print on the foam?! For at test I've spread out a 2 mm layer out on top of three layers EVA foam sheets glued together. And then applied a thin paper print of stone slaps on the uncurred foam. Embossing the printed texture into the foam. It gave a very nice result. Going to use this process to make the base for stopmotion sets, using pins for tiedowns instead of 3mm screws.

Do you think this would be comfortable to lay your arm in. Like, for instance, I have a metal detector with a plastic armband, (You rest your arm in it while holding the metal detector) so, I want to put something inside that for it to feel comfortable when my arm is in there. Maybe if this is soft, but not comfortable , I could mold this foam to the shape of the armband and then sow some material over it.
@AndrewsClayCreations
@AndrewsClayCreations Год назад
I think it would work for that. Might have to glue it in place once it dries, but I think it has enough give that it would be comfortable to use.

This is interesting. I like how saturated the color is and now I have visions of “Charlies” on a Medusa head. Maybe a nerde blank figure?

I don’t recall the exact name of the one I have, but if you search for Sanding Detailer Standard Kit on Amazon you can find a nice set of them with refills.
