I was able to put the iBOT (www.ibotnow.com/) through its paces a few months ago. Here is a mash-up of the short videos we took while I was testing it out.
Can I please have one? I'm sitting here in bed watching this this morning and my mind is racing with all the ways my life could change for the better with one of these!! Thanks to whoever took time to make this for us paralyzed people! I'm so happy to know there's people out there still working to help make our life better!! Looking forward to the future!!!
If someone bumps into you, the gyros compensate. Someone would have to bump into you awfully hard to knock you over. When you're sitting still in wheelie mode the chair is constantly compensating. If you change you center of gravity, for instance, you won't become unbalanced. Works the same as a Segway.
It was invented several years ago. Uses the same technology as a Segway. It's used the same way any powerchair would be used. Unfortunately, the iBot was discontinued this year. High cost, lack of insurance funding, and little flexibility in customizing for the individual's needs (seating, for instance) killed it. It was a good idea, but maybe a little too far ahead of its time.
what a really good invention,,bit sad to hear in the comment below that theyve stoped making the ibot,,but im sure now that people have seen it,,itl only be a matter of time before some company picks this project back up again..
I have a friend that has the Ibot 4000 and he would like to find someone to service his machine. Can anyone give me a phone number of a service agent ? He lives in Marquette, Iowa.
Y'all should go check the comments to Ted7864's channel. Judging from the reactions there, the above post is pretty tame for him. Wonder how long he'll last on RU-vid before he gets booted for his antisocial behavior? What a pathetic child for someone who lists his age as 35.
