This looks like the perfect application for pontoon boats, since it's quiet, usually low speed/short distance, and they'll have more room for some batteries
I think the body of water matters more than the boat. Wind, current, weather all matter for range and never stop. Batteries are one of the biggest pains in the butt for any boat owner and adding more is going to be a seriously uphill, down current, wind in your face battle. 😂
Pity bout the stupid background “music” would have preferred to hear how quiet that motor runs myself rather than constantly being told how quiet it is 😣
Even for a small runabout, it’d need the equivalent of 9.9hp and 2+ hours of run time (15kWh) to be taken seriously. That’d be expensive with a big battery on a small craft. Gotta get better energy density!
It's never going to replace a 2smoke 90hp with 30 gallon tank on price range or flexibility of use. Every marina ever has gas. Almost none have shore power.
they still use the 90 degree gear coupling like ICE versions. I wonder if it would be more efficient and simple to have the electric motor in line with the prop under water
Well that's total nonsense as there are all kinds of these batteries now being manufactured in the United States to avoid those tariffs. It's going to really ramp up in 2025. And costs continue to plummet.
