Your comments always put a smile on my face 🥰 Mitzie really was the star of the show in this vlog wasn’t she! Widget will have more screen time in the next one hopefully. It’s been fun slowly adding to our list of theatre performances; 4 musicals, 3 plays, 3 ballets and 1 opera… that was definitely an experience!! 🎭

@@elizabethrainefineart Mitzi’s and Widget, first of all, fabulous names! I have a very independent gentleman cat named Treat, and he just not a cuddle buddy, so I really enjoy watching cats that cuddle, so thank you! I am so impressed with your performance list. It’s been years since we’ve gone to anything! Glad for the inspiration. Looking forward to your next video and seeing your beautiful portrait development! 🥰

How exciting you trying out the pan pastels. I love them. I used them as a base layer under my elephant drawing, and also for the rock on my latest tiger drawing. I just love that you can use them on the Fabriano. I hope you have good luck with them, especially if you use them on your new portrait. Xx

Thank you Emma 🫶🏻 I’m enjoying them, the whole process is so different from what I’m used to 🤩 I defo should have bought them sooner and used them as a base layer on my elephant drawing, that must have saved so much time for you 🙈 Just checked out your tiger portrait on your IG and it’s amazing the texture you managed to achieve in the rock!! Xx

@@elizabethrainefineart It really does save so much time, especially if you like doing larger pieces. Aww thank you so much. I dreaded doing the rock and decided I wanted to use pan pastels instead of coloured pencils so I could get a softer look to it, I then sprayed it with the fixative you recommend. God send! 😊 xx

Just seen you’ve posted and I’m so excited! Only found your channel recently and absolutely love it. I got my first pan pastel set about a year ago - for base layers on subjects (it sure does save a lot of time!). Definitely have a learning curve though. Can’t wait to watch ☺️

Awh bless you Ceira, that’s made my day reading that! 🥰 Do you always use PanPastel as a base layer now on coloured pencil artwork? I got some Caran d’Ache Aquarelle pencils for xmas to do a similar thing for a base layer but have yet to do it, so must film a vlog experimenting with both soon!

Yes I do! I think on a few originals I may end up not using them as I bought the LAW animal set - so wouldn’t be the best for parrots etc. But I use it on all my commissions. Some I use a thin layer as I know my pencils would be better- but I find it’s really good for getting base layers on white fur especially! Which means my first layer of pencils doesn’t seem to take as long. I’d like to save up for a slice tool next and see how that works with pan pastels, if I can get it to create the same effect. 😊

Ah yeah, I saw that set and it doesn’t have those bright colours you would need which is a shame. Layers for white fur is brilliant!! I’ll definitely have to try that with the next white fur commission I get. I’ve got 2 slice tools (a standard blade and a tiny precision blade) and they’re great, so I absolutely recommend them! 🤩
