Yes, please do more oil pastels. I actually use your teachings to help me with oil pastels. I am a beginner and it is actually difficult to find good video of oil pastel artist.

Love that you experimented with this less familiar but fun medium. I am trying to be less critical and experiment more in art, and this was really what I needed to see today. Thanks for doing it and please do more of these - oil pastels and other experiments! I love the final art you did too.

Hi Emma! This video was very helpful! I have a set of 48. If you start off with the “harder” Paul Reubens for your under layers the new soft ones will layer on top. They are a fun change from watercolors once in awhile. Looking forward to more videos with these.😊

This was interesting. I have heard that with these pastels it works well if you use the harder Paul Rubens pastels for the base layers and then use these softer ones as your finishing layers. You can also use a palette knife to scrape some pastel onto your paper for an impasto look. And you can use the palette knife to scraffito through the pastels too. Very versatile to use. Your painting turned out lovely.

So happy you did this video. I just ordered the 72 set a few days ago after seeing 2 other reviews. Love love love Neocolor 11 so was inspired to try oil pastels. Please do more videos with this medium. Landscapes and flowers are my favorites. Amazon sells A pack of 2 white a pack of 2 black separately. Their larger - 1 white oil pastel is suppose to equal 7 regular size white. Looking forward to more videos on this new product. Never used oil pastels before… Aloha Sharon

I’m hoping to purchase these but I have no experience with oil pastels. The butter texture is intriguing. I saw another reviewer use a blending tool instead of your finger, which seems messy. Also saw someone using silicone nail art tools to work the pastels. Thanks for the interesting review. Your painting looks great!

Love these and I am also starting to try oil pastels. I bought a cheap set from the local store. What a waste of money so difficult to blend. So now I am on the hunt for a set. Your timing of this video is obviously meant. Thank you, Emma, for this great video. As always you are so amazing!

The Mungyo Gallery oil pastels are another great option. They are a little harder than the Haiya, but very enjoyable to use and blend out well. Both are at about the same pricepoint. I suggest getting a pad of pastel paper, such as the Canson Mi Teintes, as well for maximum enjoyment. Use the cheap set to sketch out your basic design.

You don’t need a fixative. Oil pastels dry down with air exposure over time, like oil paints. It will never completely harden but as long as there is no risk of it getting scratched or scuffed, it should be fine. Fixatives can actually ruin oil pastel paintings because it alters the colors and makes it very sticky/tacky, causing it to attract hair and dust, and sometimes creating an ugly sheen/gloss. Part of the beauty of oil pastels is its matte finish.
@charlottesmom
@charlottesmom Год назад
I've always heard they need the fixative, now I want to spray one of my paintings with the fixative (that I'm getting in a few days) and leave one plain and compare in a few months. 👍🏻😊

google traduction (my english is bad) : Hello and congratulations on your painting! I bought the same pastels recently and I love using them, but I have a question: how to properly store them? Indeed, it is sometimes 22 degrees in my apartment even this winter because it is facing south and some people are losing oil... And soon, I will probably return to the South of France where I am from . I don't know how I'm going to make sure they don't melt during transport or in the summer when it can easily be 42 degrees outside and very hot inside too (during heatwaves). I can't put on air conditioning because I will still be renting... Do you know of completely insulated boxes to make them resist the heat? Can we put them in the fridge? I don't want to lose this beautiful box of pastels...

Did you know these are a rip off of sennelier? They even have the same names and numbers as sennelier. Similar formulation, shape and wrapping. Just like the gallery mungyos are a rip off of neopastels with the same characteristics, names and numbers. I realized this when I bought a 48 set of neopastels and realized that it was the same exact set as the 48 set of mungyos. Same names, same colors, same numbers. Luckily the colors are not the exact same as they vary, but they are a copy nonetheless.
