Learn how to perform a test for free and combined chlorine using Taylor’s K-2006 Complete test kit. The FAS-DPD method employed in this kit makes it easy to see when the endpoint has been reached. When the sample goes from pink to colorless, the test is done.

This video is a little confusing. Testing for bromine, should I multiply by .5 or 1.25? Is one for the 25ml sample and one for the 9ml sample? It isn't specified, and my job depends on the accuracy of these tests. (Not certified yet.)

What does it mean if water remains slightly pink even after 300+ drops? I ordered a new bottle of R-0871 thinking it was “bad” but after 25 drops of the new bottle I encountered the same thing then stopped. The pink lightens up but the sample never turns completely clear. Any advice?

I'm already confused. It says to add two scoops of the powder, but in the video he has a lot of powder that is out of the scooper on the handle, but she states that a precise measurment is not neccessary? So its NOT possible to add too much powder?

Water will only take a certain amount you will notice the rest at the bottom

When I test I use 1 scoop. If the color doesn’t change I add another one to make sure the clear sample isn’t a mistake. So one more than one scoop won’t hurt nothing.

Every drop you get from the 871 reagent you will then divide by 2 to get your results. For example 8 drops would be 4ppm. This is to determine free chlorine. I don’t use their method all the way.

Why does my kit say to use the smaller side and fill to 9.

If I use a 10 ml sample to test for FC , do I need to use 2 scoops of R-0870 powder?

Hello I have your Taylor 2006 test kit & just did a combined chlorine test & the came out with a slight pink with I’d say 98% clear so I’m asking is would it test 0,0 ??

what happens if water doesnt turn pink? im assuming that means no chlorine. where to go from there to get chlorine...just bought a house with a pool

This could mean you have no chlorine in the water. However, too much chlorine in the water “bleaches” the reagents so the sample appears colorless. Try this: look carefully at the sample when adding the R-0002 (of course, add the R-0001 first). If you see a flash of pink which quickly goes away, then chances are you have too much chlorine in the water. You could also dilute the sample with chlorine-free water and retest. Please call us if you have any questions. Thanks for using Taylor!

To get chlorine, you would.... go to a store that sells chlorine, maybe?

If you use the 10 ml sample, to test for Combined Chlorine do you still add 5 drops R-0003?
@TaylorWaterTechnologies

Hi Tami, yes you would still use 5 drops of R-0003.

Yes, add chlorine. I do know that much. Helps if you have a feeder regulator too.
