Once the nut is tight you are not supposed to see it moving, it’s not like it will be loose, that would be very bad. Calling the axle floating it’s that it’s not bolted into the nut and each axle block is able to flex under load independently from each other.

There’s still flex going after being torque down. If you look at slow motion video of dirt bikes absolutely everything is flexing, the frame, subframe, triple clamps, etc.. In this case with the axle blocks being floating they are moving, the movement can’t be seen with the naked eye, but it’s happening. For a reason factory Ktm chose to have them floating. And all Japanese bikes have a floating design.

Hi Gary! I ordered from ride engineering website, yes for 2023 Ktm went to a 22mm axle.
