Testing Slingshot UFO 9M Kite in light winds with Kanaha Shapes 42" "Mari Macho" and GoFoil GL140 in light winds with windsurfing friend on 10M sail and race board.
9M compares favorably with the BRM Cloud E. I have both 8M and 10.4M Cloud E so direct Meter to Meter comparison not possible but generally I like the lighter weight and nimbler handing of the Clouds and the more direct linear power and more ridged structure provided by the larger leading edge (for small jumping and even water launching) the UFO - Both Great, Both Fun - UFO available out side of USA so that's a plus for folks looking for something similar if that is a factor. Cheers Hernan Gimenez
Hi Jorge - yes, that is a BRM Cloud Bar (the new version) works GREAT! I was going to use a SS bar but it's SO HEAVY - Cloud bar does all I need it to do. There's a few used ones if you go to CloudRiders group on Facebook
PS, I just posted another video that shows the Cloud bar and my connection method I'm working on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4PWh4xbjKuM.html
@@akinfar hi! My new UFOs 1.1 just arrived yesterday and gave them their first run in cross onshore wavy conditions. I tried the 9 and the 7 and am absolutely in love with both of them! Being able to turn while sheeted out is great. Will try them out in flat conditions this weekend.
@@jorgehorta8233 so cool! I was wondering about the v 1.1 I think they are the same design but using T 2 for the fabric and different color. I'm looking forward to getting 7M - I have had a few more sessions on the 9M it's a good size between the Cloud 8M and 10.4 - very linear power - thinking it might jump a bit better - but I'm not really a jumper - almost snow season here - waxing snowboard
@@akinfar yeah same here I don't jump. Just freestyle and waves. No idea about the difference since I've never ridden the 1.0. I'll upload some videos when I get a chance
PedHead, I have not. I'm sure it will work great with any low V bar and lines set to equal lengths when fully sheeted out on he stopper. It does work great with the BRM Cloud CSS but if you were going to be riding more powered up, it might be nice to have some adjustment to keep the sheeting closer to the body. I'm looking forward to trying a 7M UFO but they seem to be scarce here at the moment. Cheers and thanks for the visit and comment.
Hey Kristian, I'm about your size (200 lbs) and now have 4 sessions total and two in very light wind. I was using the GoFoil GL140 if I recall ( I have 120,140,180 and 240 and have used all of them kiting) - What I can tell you is that if you can keep the kite flying you can ride at our weight. The lightwind sessions (One solo and the other was with a guy on a 15M Contra mowing the lawn) were no whitecaps, probably wind ranging from 8mph low end to gust to 15mph average in between. If you get upwind in the gusts you can ride out the lulls ok with the 9M UFO, stay up wind and have fun making jibes and tacks (tacks in puffs for me as I'm still working on consistency. If you're looking to check out strutless, Like Slingshot and or can't get Boardriding Maui Cloud kites these will be a good alternative. Thanks for watching, I was surprised there was a comment so sorry for the delay in response.
