Thanks for watching guys! So what do you think of the Alien? Hot or not? Let me know in the comments! Thanks to SDI! Again, it’s SDI.edu for more info!
Sorry but no level of innovation justifies a high price After the first initial sales, the invention has more than paid for itself, everything after is profit Greed flation is a huge problem in today's societies A product which cost $20 in materials and $20 in labor to manufacturer has no reason to cost $5000, sorry, it just doesn't
Picked up one of those bad boys myself early last year. Absolutely love it. I am sure you have already found out that they run very dirty due to the gas operating system. You will feel the trigger pull get more and more gritty as you shoot. Regular cleaning is a must to keep that beautiful crisp trigger break. The area above the trigger does get REALLY HOT after rapid fire. But just some quirks to get used to. So far, haven't had a single malfunction. It has eaten any ammo thrown at it, and absolutely loves being suppressed. And yes, my wallet is still crying.
About that Czechoslovakia bit, the gun is made in Czechia, but the designer of the gun and founder of Laugo company is from Slovakia, hence the "retro" joined name. We kinda like to do that here, also with coproduced tv shows and such...
@@goldenhate6649 Well, the officer in question first has to know the difference between the three states and the history and being a us official... thats not guaranteed lol
I’ve got one of these; it’s truly phenomenal. The only gripes I have about it are the optic being 6MOA (replaced with a Trijicon SRO) and it’s lack of left-hand operation. Yes, it’s not uncommon for handguns to not have any left hand operation, but the Alien actually requires a modified grip to shoot leftie. Your hand will actually interfere with the ejection port on the Alien; the first time I pick up the Alien after a spell of not using it I’ll often foul it up once before I remember to shift the grip. But yea fantastic gun, love shooting it, and most people I let test it seem to love it as well.
How high is your normal grip? I have a high grip, off hand wraps around the trigger guard. I'm unable to shoot cz75s because of this. I want one of these but that is my main concern is drastically changing my grip
@@ginol.5819 That probably wont be an issue? The way the handgun is designed forces a higher grip. If you end up near Ellijay, GA youre welcome to come try mine haha. If youre a leftie the main change needed is to move away from resting your non-dominant thumb in-line with the slide (but on the frame as to not impede the slide's action). On the Alien if you do this you will actually partially block the lowered ejection port and cause malfunctions eventually.
Still can't believe I met Brandon in person a few days ago. Insanely genuine and kind person. Keep up the great work man! (In case you read this I'm the dude in the wheelchair who said Hi at Caesars forum shops)
Hey Brandon... I received my 2 new Aliens and love them... EXCEPT... for the Burnt finger from a 1200 round match prep. Lol, from my P7 M13's and the P10... not to mention my vintage " Witchdoctor "'we were all prepared, lol... and still scorched both trigger fingers after a couple " Mozambique 's " and a Bill dril. Still... gotta' love them. Still use my dbl. stacks and my billets @2011 style... 1.5# triggers and linear bearing lockups... .010" 15yd groups are the norm, at 50 they open up to .020" to .050" with some customers hands. Love what you're doing my friend... KUDO'S for killin' it! Just for your mind... we went to a gun buyback ( 100 yards from State property... ) long story short... a wonan stopped me and asked where to get his buy back on... I bought a Randall, and a COONAN 357" and she was glad to get the $1000. I offered her... when we traded she said her ex ( WHO WAS A CUSTOMER when I smithed' for John Nowlin in the early 90's ) had passed away three years prior and she had no relatives who loved guns and NONE who shot competitions as her husband did ( and shot our guns... ) then she took me to her mansion and got me to help her open the vault door... the things I saw almost brought a tear to my eye... any way she pulled out 4 cases out of an 8' square 4" thick safe inside the vault and the things I bought cost me over 5 figures before leaving ... a tired and teared up sweet lady, put her arms around me, hugged and thanked me... and gave me her card... for the rest of the vault items I might desire... some I couldn't/wouldn't touch, literally. Investment arms and select OTHER items that I don't have an SOT for in that realm... lol. Thank you young man. I thought you might appreciate this tale of reality in this day and age, I do apologize for the length... Respectfully, Seth
Hey Brandon, if you like your g43x as your daily carry I'd really suggest looking into the Shield Arms s15 mags. Fits flush and bumps you up to 15 rounds. I have two for mine and they work great!
I had the pleasure of handling this amazing firearm at a match one time, the guy was sponsored and let a bunch of us guys play around with it. Truly an outstanding work of engineering; I wish I could afford one.
6:25 Frangible rounds are also great for home defense as they are less likely to over penetrate with lethal force. Makes it safer if the round hits a wall and you don't want to hurt someone on the other side. Great for apartments.
8:00 - So Brandon finally got a Bad Dragon sponsorship, huh? Proud of him. The Laugo Alien has always felt like such a sci-fi weapon to me. It both looks the part and is overengineered enough to be one.
I gotta so with S&W shield plus. I get less snap, more rounds, more aggressive texture, better trigger and cheaper price. About the same price for the performance center. And it’s been as reliable for me as the M&P 2.0- Zero failures 13:00
I got to shoot with the Laugo Team at a PCSL match in St. George, UT. They let me use a Alien on multiple stages. It shoots flat as if it had the best muzzle break in the world. What isnt said is that it has one hell of a recoil impulse without the muzzle flip. Like you feel it slap your hand back. Its truly a weird feeling. Hence...Alien.
I have a couple revolvers like that. 629 competitor that has weights under the barrel and a Chiappa. Very little muzzle flip, but after a long range day you have a good lesson in if the recoil energy isn't rotating the gun it is slamming it back. Does take some getting used to (and in the case of the 629 I put grips from an X frame on it to get rid of the exposed backstrap; actually hurt a tad and .44 usually doesn't bother me), but sure is fun.
its almost like you cant cheat physics ... if that energy doesnt go into muzzle rise then its all getting transfered into the arm inline with the barrel ... that energy has to go SOMEWHERE .
The Forgotten Weapons guy got a Alien a while back and dissected it. He seemed just as fascinated as Mr. H. Thanks for race running it and giving us a half hillbilly/gun nerd opinion. The upside down hammer on the "toprail?" And the back gas piston is weird as it is clever. I'd like to see how the piston looks/works after a long day of shooting cheap ammo. Great video, cool gun that most of us will never see. Cheers from Tucson.
@@whyiwakeup6460 So true, back in the day I purchased an Army surplus, Colt 1911 .45 ACP for $89.00. I've maintained A 100% and I've had several offers that crazy times more than I've invested.
@@BrandonHerreraBrandon can you larp as Sam and dean from supernatural and show off your impala also review there weapons I think it would be a cool video
I used to load frangible ammo in my "bedside pistol", specifically because I lived in rented apartment complexes with neighbors on the other side of the walls. In that circumstance, it was just a basic safety measure to observe to at least attempt to avoid harming my neighbors should I need to shoot inside my apartment. Once I moved to separate suburban houses over the years, I didn't worry that much about it and saved the expense for target ammo. And realistically, in a full 4BR house I'd generally use a shotty for "home defense" anyway...
It always amazes me, that there are people who actually carry a gun with them wherever they go. WTF is wrong with them, why would anyone need a gun in his pocket 24/7?
@@samuraidoggy it’s the same reason people carry an Epi-Pen around with them everywhere they go if they have severe allergies. People want to be safe and not be in fear of their life if something unexpected happens outside of their control.
@@327Federal Luckily I wasnt born in the USA. Here in Europe I can feel perfectly safe without carrying a gun with me. I have never been in situation where I would have needed a gun, and I have never heard of anyone who would have been. USA is truly a country of violence, if one needs a gun to feel safe.
@@CPFMTKV Germany and some other places in europe had them for reasonable prices in like the 80s, and then dirt cheap police trade-ins in the 90s. But they never got huge numbers to the US, thus the rarity prices...
I switched to frangible hollow points in my defense mags awhile back. Makes way more sense to me. Not just for lethality on target, but lack of lethality off target. Last thing i want in defense situation is rounds ricocheting when i miss.
God the Laugo is gorgeous, I shot it once when it was still a prototype at an IPSC match in the Czech Republic. They shoot so well and honestly the price isn't out of line for an Open 9mm Major pistol or a Limited Optics gun.
@@Iianator With those Russia loving troglodyes who voted a convicted Mafia boss into the leadership role? No thank you. All sensible, and useful, Slovaks are already in the Czech Republic
Bro what gas blowback is 10k? The most expensive airsoft gun I've ever seen is the G&G MG42 at ~$4k. It performs very well, but I cant imagine anyone sane spending anything more than that on an airsoft gun.
Thank you for your videos, homeslice. It's nice that someone respects and loves firearms for what they are, a lovely tool designed to enrich our lives. I do tend to get sad when they are used for anything other than defense or providing. Binging your channel now and enjoying my evening! Stay groovy and free, brother!
Very reminiscent to the Kriss Vector only in pistol form. Down to the downward swinging hammer even. Obviously different ways of mitigating recoil but both do dampen recoil extremely effectively. Also, based on looks, they're both space guns! Cool video Brandon!
I got my 43x the week it came out! Maaan i love that thing. Ive put at least 2,000 rounds without a non-mag related issue. I trust your opinion and i feel great, even after all this time. Thanks man
My first (and so far only) 9mm was Grand Power X-Calibur Match mk23 - I loved the trigger and how it rotated the barrel instead of tilting it. Yes, it was quite expensive (compared to e.g. the boring Glocks) but I love it. The I heard about this gun - and I though "OK, it will probably be as expensive, maybe a little more"... it is MUCH MORE expensive, but the operating mechanism is so neat. [sight] Maybe in few years :)
As a Minnesotan and as someone who lived 4 years in Florida I chose to laugh at both the idea of oh my God it’s 40° it’s cold OK put a minus in front of that and then talk to me and also when Minnesota and say oh my God it’s 85°. I’m going to die. I have the unique ability to laugh at both . But as I tell Minnesotans about real heat, the ones that laugh at you… you can always put more layers on to a degree but you can’t take your skin off! Oh , and this gun is amazing I absolutely love the ingenuity of it and hope that this is something sustainable for a daily carry in the next 20 or 30 years.
all brandon videos need to be watched immediately not only because his videos are awesome but also because its only a matter of time before youtube takes them down
I love the checky banter between you, Scott, and Matt. It's refreshing to see friends fuck with each verbally and not mean it. Reminds me of me and my friends.
I remember learning about that gas delay system in SDI. I remember learning that it also allows it to delay the bolt enough so it stays in battery until gas pressure lowers. Also, allowing the bolt to be lighter.
It's also self-regulating to a degree. If you feed it subsonics, the lower gas pressure means that there's less force resisting the bolt opening, which compensates for le lower force of the casing trying to force its way out. If you feed it some of Bubba's pissin-hot reloads, the higher gas pressure should (theoretically at least) help hold the bolt closed long enough to avoid a case rupture.
Got to shoot one of these recently, it was interesting to say the least, the Gas system pistol is something I hope to see more of as it seems to work well. However, it is not worth the $6000 price tag, if you want an expensive gun that shoots incredibly good and will blow every other handgun you’ve ever shot out of the water, get the Nighthawk Sandhawk. And have an extra $1000 left over for ammp
2:28 Noticed that the bore axis is really low. I bet the recoil feels like a gentle push and the accuracy would reflect that as the barrel lines up with your index finger if you were doing "finger guns".
No need to worry about getting a bit of Claw on the Alien. Ian from Forgotten Weapons already did an actual torture test of this pistol with mud and everything.
Thank you for the vidja. As to the potential accuracy of the weapon: Ian at Forgotten Weapons stated that the gun can shoot a LOT better than he can. I can certainly understand that. Bit rich for my blood but it surely is a sexy little thing.
That's not saying much as most decent handguns with match ammo are far more accurate than 99.99% of people can shoot with them. If you just look at the mechanical accuracy (ie when the gun is strapped to a bench, taking the human component out completely), we're usually talking about 2-3 inch groups at 25 yards.
That design is super interesting. It's awesome to see people trying to really innovate and push things forward in areas where there's not that much going on in the grand scheme of things.
Brandon. You should have the Neopup PAW-20 grenade launcher, HK VP70M Machine Pistol, the Denel NTW-20 anti-materiel rifle, thr FK Brno 7.5 Field Pistol, the HK G11 Kraut Space Gun, the Stechkin Machine Pistol, and the Daewoo K11 in future videos
Ironically, what I liked the most is the fact that just a few days ago I met the 43X for the first time and loved it. About the Alien, it's the race car we all wish but not all deserve.
Im glad that you reviewed this, truly! I say this "mostly" because of the fact that I can't afford it and no one I know can either. Without your review, I wouldn't have known about this cool gun! Thanks for the great review!
One reason I follow you Brandon, beyond your sense of humor, accurate analyses, and updates on Political Futtbuckery, is ti live through you vicariously. This is the closest I'll get to owning some of these very expensive gunms. Sad fact if being retired on a disability pension, is you live at or below the poverty line, so everything I own was bought when I was younger. This is the second review of the Alien I' e watched. Would love to own one, but at $5K, it'll never happen.
@@ZombieSlayer-dj3wb how's about we trade for some of yall's cold. I wanna see snow again, dammit. It's been like 12-13 years, and it didn't even stay all day. That was almost 20 years ago we had a fun, full snow day.
You can tell you have more trigger time on the XC due to the trigger reset. You know exactly when the gun will reset the sear. I’d love to see the same comparison once you have put some miles on the Alien, a proper side by side but it does look like it’s up to the task……. And don’t feel bad about using the term “get up inside the Alien” as they’ve been probing us for decades. A poetic kind of payback to be fair…. 😝👍
Low bore axis but having that frame piece or whatever on top? Makes putting a comp on it difficult without a threaded barrel. 4:35 Donut Operator "Is this a personal attack? Or..........?" 8:05 **Shocked Liara T'Soni noises**
I agree with the idea of the best carry is the one you carry. i had a decked out glock 19x that i stopped carrying and have a Staccato C2 but always find myself grabbing the Sig p365 xmacro tacops cause its so much smaller and prints less while still holding 17 rounds and shoots like a dream
Another thing about the fixed barrel, and I know this because I tried, is the slide doesn't have to move as far back, which means the breech block won't have to cut through the grip and into your hand. You can even see how they had to design around this looking at the slide. The bore axis is basically in line with the web of your hand. If the barrel moved back at all I highly doubt the design would still work. I don't think there is any way at all they could have gotten that bore axis so low if the barrel moved in any way. Even comparing it to stuff like the Archon type B, CZ75, H9, etc. the bore axis is low, sure, but it is still fully above your hands.
I love how that gun has the stationary top rail and the piston operating system built into the design. The aggressive slide serrations not only look sweet but are also functional. The grip looks nice too, like it would fit the curvature of the hands well. It is a very nice handgun and it is unique, which I love cuz face it, innovation is what drives quality up in the market. I hope to see more companies stepping it up and start putting out variations and improved versions of this design. Thanks for the amazing review and detailed breakdown of this beautiful piece. Also, good luck congressman! You got this. #Herrera4congress
I’ve been interested in these and have been surprised of the absence of it from any of large guntuber channel. I’ve only gotten a few minutes in to the video but am excited to see your thoughts on this handgun!
Ian from Forgotten Weapons (PBUH) has done a couple of videos of his own Alien, including a mud test. He's used it in several competitions and speaks very highly of it
Listen, man. I just fell down the rabbit hole that is your channel and it's been (pun intended)... a blast. Although being a Canadian looking in on all of the fun is like watching the spoiled kids parents take him to McDonald's playplace, while your mom says that we have fried bologna sandwiches at home.
Let’s Go Brandon!!!! I definitely agree with the 43x, I try to carry my 19x or 45 but I always end up grabbing my 43x and with the Blackhawk Stache holster it’s just way more comfortable. I have been running the PSA micro dagger 15rd mags, I did run a little over 1k rounds of various brands and bullet weights through each mag with zero malfunctions before I trusted them for edc.
Man, that's a nice gun! Also, can't wait to see an update on your run for Congress! Unfortunately I can't support all the way since I'm not an American citizen (or live there), but I wish you luck and am supporting in thought!
