@invenio1978

@@MonicaHolly143 Watts are a unit of power, not total energy use. The AC is a 500 watt unit. In terms of energy use, which is most often provided in "kilowatt per hour" on your electric bill, would mean that if you ran the AC for an hour, it would consume 0.5 kw/hr, and if you ran it for 24 hours, it would consume 12 kw/hr. You can figure out how much this would cost you by looking at your electric bill and see the kw/hr charge, which is probably going to be around 10-40 cents per kw/hr depending on location and your electric company.

Same here, much more cost effective than installing a 15-20 thousand dollar Generac. All you need is a manual transfer switch and an outlet installed. Converted my Champion to run off of natural gas. (But they have a tri-fuel model now that does the same thing)

What typically fails on any cheap appliance with a thermopump (AC unit, mini fridge etc..) Is the compressor starter relay. Luckily they are very cheap and easy to replace. The other thing is poor quality control and assembly. If any of the refrigeration lines are touching or rubbing up against anything, they will inevitably develop a pinhole leak, in which case the unit is finished.

I needed an AC unit for my server room and was debating on getting on a portable/floor AC or a smart windows AC. The different between the two AC units is about $500, I dont think I would want to spend that much money on an window AC that I wont really interface with on a day to day basis. Electric allowance was also a concern since the 20amp line in my server room is shared (old house problems) My solution was to combine smart capability and a low cost window AC window unit so I purchased the same this unit under a different brand name and connected it to a Kasa Mini Smart Plugs. This configurations allows me to turn the AC on and off using my phone on Wi-Fi or cellular. I can even set a schedule so the AC turns on and off at my desired times. The window AC and smart plug was about $200 total and it was the best $200 I have spent this year.

Bit of an odd question about the ecoflow battery backup: would it be able to support running a home hemodialysis machine in an emergency?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 3 года назад
Not at all, many people use the battery gens for medical equipment, especially since they stay plugged in and charged and can be right in a bedroom or elsewhere. I am not an expert with hemodialysis but i see some machines use 600-700 watts The new Delta pro could power that machine for 6 hours with a single Delta pro and that is if the machine runs non-stop. Could be longer if they are intermitten. The back of your machine should tell you how much power it uses and that can help you determine the time. But the Delta Pro can run many types of medical equipment. This is my Delta pro video in case you havent seen it. Hope this helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bfWzPPDh2Yg.html

I like to use those simple air conditioners with a plug in thermostat, I've got a cheap thermostat with a remote that doubles as the thermometer so it'll control the temperature based on where you're at, I've got an older, more expensive, programable thermostat that senses the temperature where the plug is, both work quite well, but the batteries die on the cheap one pretty quickly. every now and then I try to find a smart version but so far no luck. In the winter I use the cheap thermostat on a space heater with the remote by my bed for obvious reasons.

Can you do a review of the Midea U-Shaped Window A/C unit? It's shaped like a U, allowing a window to slide down about 90% of the way into the "body" of the A/C unit. This leaves about 1/4 of the unit INSIDE of the window, and about 3/4 of the unit OUTSIDE the window (notably the loud portions like the compressor are located outside the window). Supposedly, the unit is incredibly quiet due to the design.

Turn it into a smart AC. Get you a smart plug and a temperature sensor (Alexa echo 5th gen has one built in). Set AC to “low cool” and set thermostats to the coldest setting. Use Alexa routines or IFTTT to control AC. This completely shuts AC off when compressor shuts off which is better for humidity control. The continuous running fan otherwise blows humidity back into the room because the coils are still wet. It can also be programmed to have an away setback temperature setting to save energy. It will automatically adjust the setting based on you and/or your family’s location.
@kristolbert3556
@kristolbert3556 11 дней назад
How do you make it go off when the compressor goes off? Or what’s the set up like exactly. I think your idea is cool
@giG_apP_haCks_
@giG_apP_haCks_ 4 дня назад
@@kristolbert3556 that's why you use a smart plug. The smart plug controls the unit by turning the power off/on. When the plug is off everything, including the constant fan, is off--Many GE window air conditioners come without a way to control the fan which stays on regardless of the room's temperature or thermostat setting unless you shut off the unit completely. Since longer cycles seem to remove humidity best, it's good to have a rather large temp swing. So set up an Alexa routine to turn on the plug for 30 minutes (or more time if you find it does not reach T - 2) at desired set-point temperature (T) at T+2. Or create a routine to turn on at T+2 (indefinitely) and a second routine to turn off at T-2. For away setback to save energy. Setup routines that target a higher set point temperature (ie T+8). Have two routines, one to turn on at T+10 and another to turn off at T+6. Then create routines that activate and deactivate these routines when you are leaving and entering a certain radius from your home. (ie 1 mile). Your air conditioner will run just enough your house won't feel like an oven when you get home and will still keep any pets comfortable as well.

How does it control the temp it doesn’t seem to monitor room temperature and and I dont see anything saying it’s a inverter with variable compressor speed. I’m Swedish and we don’t have window air conditioning and our portabale ACs always monitor room temp and cycles the compressor on and off. But when watching videos on window air conditioners I always see that temperature control.

These A/C units are a dime a dozen You can find them at most stores Around that price range..They give off good cooling in a Lg bedroom As a few years go by they do not give as much cooling as new And at the 4th year mark You ether buy a new one or deal with what you have..Still better than the $800+ models And the $1,400 one i looked at for my van (Portable with battery pack) Instead i made a wood frame for the window And run a 50ft cord at camp grounds

These are okay for a small room, but they are really inefficient. It's better to get a split system if possible.

Don't put a screw into a vinyl or metal window. Use a board or length of PVC pipe (or two) wedged above the window to keep it from opening.

No, but this is by far the best version that will work with either and uses an inverter for low cost: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NI-KNyp9tdQ.html

You think that one is quiet, you should hear the Midea 8000 BTU unit that is only about twice as expensive and COOLS ONE HELL OF A LOT BETTER, suitable for Houston summer heat while the 5000 btu unit barely keeps the room away from sweaty. The Midea is RIGHT NEXT TO MY HEAD AT THE BED and I can barely hear it! Of course if cash is your only measure the small one is your answer but if you can squeeze out another hundred bucks the Midea is much better. The Midea uses 600 watts in medium and 1000 watts at full power.

Typical Chinese manufacturers taking jobs for cheap and then stealing products. When the domestic company goes out of business then the copy company raises it’s prices sky high and blocks other brands from making the same product in China. Rinse and repeat.

People actually spend thousands on widow AC units? Or do you mean whole house/central air types? Here in Michigan, the typical unit like you just tested runs anywhere from $99-300, from name brands like GE, Frigidaire, Midea, TCL, etc. Larger units of course, run more (like a 12,000 BTU for $369).
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 3 года назад
No I mean that I have tested systems over $1000 like the recent Mr Cool. This one is a great bargain for the price, and if you are battery solar generator user the extra low wattage is appreciated too
