I would recommend putting the Air compressor on the floor when using it. The airbrush holder should be but to be selfstanding or mountable on worktable not on the compressor. You can also make a DIY cleaning station using a plastic 2L soft drink bottle and flexible straw, fill the bottle with some water, fit the straw so that one end is underwater and the flexible end comes out the side of the bottle so the tip of the airbrush can be put into the straw and just spray to clean it out.

Just an idea, when you test something, do a real world applicable test. No one buys on of these to do scribbles on piece of paper. We need to know if it can put an even coat on something, will it drip or be inconsistent, does it create a fine enough mist. Can you draw a small figure with intent, pick a star or a heart so we know what you intended, draw with a pencil and follow the line.

I got the timbertech airbrush kit with the tank below the compressor. Works great, but the airbrush was nothing but grief. I bought a Paasche Talon airbrush and it's like night and day. The finishes on my paint is smoother, the control is more accurate etc... just an all around great improvement from the cheaper airbrushes. Oh and cheap paint will give you cheap results, get the good stuff, it's worth it.

About 25 years ago a company approached me with the very first silent oil free compressor to test here in Australia. "Sparmax" in less than 5 years the Chinese market came out making replicas of that design. Iwata sold the same compressor with their sticker on it. I've retired, but I was the service agent for many airbrush compressor importers here including oil bath compressors. I found servicing many compressors, you get what you paid for. I have two "Sparmax compressor from my first purchase back then. Saying that I have one "JUN" air compressor (oil bath) that is over 40 years old. All these compressors are use weekly for many years. One note. Run a hose of at least 10 feet from the compressor head to the moisture trap...The head is hot and will push moisture through the moisture trap, but increasing the distance will allow it to cool and the water gets trapped. Also without a tank it will also run hot!

One thing worth noting from the Amazon compressors is that they are often the same machine re-badged. They are Chinese and, from the reviews, suffer for it but generally work OK. It's pot-luck. Same with the airbrush - often just re-boxed. Look out for the kits with the most bits and you will see them elsewhere split up into smaller lots. I bought a similar, but different compressor with a tank and it works just fine. I saved £15-£20 just by buying the one with the airbrush minus some of the, often useless, extra bits. Still going strong after plenty of use.

I have a 30 years old compressor. Still working. I always wanted a tank so one day I will buy one with tank. But what I like of your compressor is that it turns on and off automatically! Wow...I though only compressor with tank do that! Now I'm envy because I have to turn on and off mine continuosly and it's a pain.

You can fix your yogurt container by drilling a small hole to insert air brush and a second vent hole on opposite edge of lid . Place some gauze cloth inside to catch paint mist . The hole will also function as a brush holder . A lot cheaper than buying one .

The difference between these generic airbrushes and a branded one is huge. And believe me, these are the most generic, low cost, low quality airbrushes available. Timbertech is NOT an airbrush manufacture; it's a company that boxes cheap airbrushes and compressors together and sells them on - anyone could do the same. The compressors tend to be OK (but they will overheat, so are not suited to long continuous sessions, so you need to let them rest. They are also loud, and the tank size is small). They are generally maintenance free and provide a good air supply for small projects. The airbrushes on the other hand are woeful. They are built cheaply, using poor materials to very pour tolerances. Sure, this (or every other airbrush like it) may seem to work well, but it's a false analogy to what a well made airbrush can do - and I've seen so many people give up or get frustrated because their £20 airbrush does not perform as expected. And given the fact you have a complete novice using subpar equipment it's easy to see why. Airbrushing is an art - you wouldn't pick up a set of watercolours and expect to produce a masterpiece on day one; but that is unfortunately what most people think they can achieve because they've bought the most basic, cheapest airbrush on Amazon. Imagine if that set of watercolours came with a stick, and not a brush - this about sums up your experience. Buy a compressor from eBay, Amazon, Wish, etc but make sure it has a tank. A compressor is like a two stroke engine - it has a compression phase and an intake phase. Without a tank there is a gap as the piston moves from compression to intake, so you get a pulse of air - out, in, out, in, out, in etc. This in turn pulses the air entering the airbrush and thus the paint leaving the tip. A tank on the hand acts a constant reservoir of air, so no matter what the piston is doing there is always a smooth air supply. Think of this as blowing up a balloon. When you blow one up by your mouth you have to stop and start, but using a pump there is constant flow. But please, please buy a decent airbrush. There is no need to buy one from a dedicated airbrush supplier, but go to a proper model/ hobby shop to get one. Sparmax, Iwata Neo and the like make sub £80 brushes. But why you ask? Well an airbrush works by atomising a mix of air and paint into a fine and controllable mist. This works due to some well proven, and complex physics - very much like the fuel injectors in a modern car engine. As you are dealing with atomised substrates, to work effectively, the tolerances and surfaces have to be manufactured to extremely high standards. And any nicks, bumps or imperfections in the various surfaces that the air/ paint mixture passes over will be magnified exponentially upon leaving the airbrush nozzle. Honestly, spending just a bit more will result in a significantly better experience.

Thanks for adding a more professional viewpoint. The original review was very good and down-to-earth, obviously done by a novice (which he freely admitted to). And he showed the level of quality that he was going for and what he could do with what he had. You have added the next depth, which indeed is truly important for those who want to do detailed work.
@injesusname3732
@injesusname3732 Год назад
where do you think the "expensive quality" brushes come from? China The only difference an airbrush can make in the quality of outcome, is the nozzle tip. this is more simple than youre making it. Its just air pushing paint through a tube. judging by your reply, youre trying to justify the expensive one you bought.

@ImFastrnU
@ImFastrnU 2 года назад
A couple things. 1. Get a compressor with a tank. 2. Gravity fed is better than bottom feed for minatures. Bottom feed requires higher compressor PSI to essentially pull the paint through the brush whereas the gravity fed lets gravity feed the paint into the brush requiring less pressure and more detailed work.

Vallejo and other manufacturers of paint (AK interactive & MIG etc) make model AIR airbrush paint which is designed for airbrushing. A better quality airbrush will give better results and compressor will provide more accurate pressures.

I’ve got a master airbrush when I just started out. The 2 mil nozzle broke up the first day, the O rings got brittle a year in (even tho I didn’t airbrushed that much + I maintained good cleaning) and now it just leaks air and becomes unusable. I would recommend a better one like Harder Steenbeck Ultra or their Evolution airbrushes

@sirrathersplendid4825 4 года назад
People who have airbrushes all tell me to get one with an air tank - it looks like a second cylinder about the same size as the main silver housing. Costs only about €20 more but is SO MUCH QUIETER to use. Also the airflow is far more even as the pump doesn’t keep jolting into action every time you press the airbrush button.

Timbertech and Fengda are the same rebranded white label stuff. This compressor comes with and without tank. You have the version without. Tip for every beginner: get the version with tank. This is at most $10- $20 more expensive and it makes your life soo much better. This compressor runs hot. With a tank it will not be running all the time.

Hi and a big hello to Germany (my favourite holiday destination when I can go).... If you want to buy another item again from the UK it's easy just to cut off the UK plug and fit either a 2 pin our 3 pin European plug.. Probably even get them in Edeka? All compressers get hot.. They have oil in them to keep cooler.. The air is under pressure and the volume is the same so of course the temperature must increase - remember that school physics 🤔 but it's normal.. 3 hours is a lot.. You should stop for a nice break and a good German beer 🍺 Thanks for the review.... I'm thinking about getting an airbrush kit but the high quality ones are several hundred euros which is too much for me.. The gravity feed airbrushes obstruct your view of the work if you are doing some sort of detail work on a project while the side-feed and siphon-feed do not obstruct the view. Amazon also sells paints that are of a pearl type. These pearl paints came in many colors. In a pinch, a soda pop bottle would work to cut down on spraying the water everywhere. I was watching your video and thought of something. You are able to water cool a computer system so it seems like you might be able to do the same thing with this compressor.

I have that exact compressor! It’s brilliant for the price, and hasn’t let me down yet. My airbrush is a cheap as chips Kkmoon clone, and at the start, it was horrible. But after much polishing, it paints really well. I’m going to invest in a different brush later, but for now, it’s fine. 👍🏻

Hi - I found this so useful as a complete beginner. So much so I got an iwata airbrush and a compressor for Christmas. I got a compressor with a tank to have consistent pressure. But my question ! I have the compressor set to 20 psi and work away, but when finished I switch compressor off but I’ve still got 20 psi, so how do I get rid or release the pressure ? I’ve taken to just unscrewing the hose ?
@WF3D
@WF3D 4 года назад
Hey just pull the trigger of you airbrush then you'll release the pressure
@twigwonderkid
@twigwonderkid 4 года назад
Thanks . I did that but it took 10 mins to drain the tank, so now I just loosen the pipe connection at the airbrush . Is there a release valve perhaps ?
@WF3D
@WF3D 4 года назад
@@twigwonderkid that sounds pretty wrong. Mine is empty after 3 seconds. There is not that much pressure inside to maintain 10 minutes of constant pressure. There isn't a release valve AFAIK.
@twigwonderkid
@twigwonderkid 4 года назад
WF3D ok - 10 mins was a bit of an exaggeration, but it does take 2 to 3 mins to empty the tank via the airbrush at 20psi . I’ve now taken to just unscrewing and disconnecting the pipe

Good day, my Friend. I would like to know if this compressor can run at a controlled low pressure (20 to 30 psi) (1,5 to 2 Bars). I'm looking for a low noise, low pressure compressor for airbrushing. Thank you for your input. I hope I'll have the pleasure to read from you soon. Happy new year 2021 and have a great day, my Friend.

Hi, having watched your video I have purchased a FENGDA FD-2 airbrush compressor which is probably almost identical to the one you purchased. The manual that comes with it does not explain everything so can you tell me do these kind of compressors switch on and off quite often whilst in use? The reason I am unsure is that it does not have a tank to store air. The one it has replaced was one that stayed on all the time and was quite noisy. Thank you.
@WF3D
@WF3D 4 года назад
Yes they turn on once the pressure drops, usually after some seconds of spraying, as the tank is not very big. If you don't want that, you'll probably have get one with an additional tank.

@user-cn3zq2zu2o
@user-cn3zq2zu2o 2 года назад
@@notmodeling8070 Yes I did. And just to be sure, I have just read them again. The instructions say something along the lines of 'the air pressure can be adjusted by the regulator on top of the compressor' ...and that's it. There's no mention of having to release the red locking ring, and pulling the regulator upwards - which is not intuitive, especially for a beginner's airbrush which this is marketed as. It was only thanks to posting the question on this channel that I got the answer above. The regulator cap has 'PUSH - LOCK' printed in tiny letters on it - it would probably be better with 'PULL - UNLOCK' on it, as it is supplied already locked, so pushing down on it does nothing - again not intuitive? Oh and by the way, the main part of my job for the past 30 years has been writing user guides, so I make a point of reading every instruction leaflet I get immediately after opening the box. Even IKEA wardrobes 🙂

I have a similar compressor, and it gets really hot, the whole thing gets hot after like after 40 mins of working. Is it normal? , can I continue working, or should I stop and hold breaks ? :D Great video thank you.
@MrZauberelefant
@MrZauberelefant 2 года назад
I have that compressor, and it's normal, yes. Pressure=heat, and the heat dissipator is woefully undersized, so you end up with a unit getting rather hot. However, it does not reach temperatures that actually damage materials in electric compressors. It's just really warm to the touch. But it should be Easy to add a water cooling system to the compressor.
