Order Rotoshovel: amzn.to/4cce1DO - What do you think of this tool?
@pfoxhound
@pfoxhound 3 месяца назад
Cheap and weak. While using it - locks up easily. Use impact driver or put the drill clutch to lower setting that you can handle. Overall the tool you showed is nonsense, I do see it works on soft soil. It's not working everywhere.

Dial the clutch down on the handheld drill and put an augur bit on. I don't see the value here.

No, that’s the anti-kickback system, kicking in if it was designed to have as high torque as possible, and just kept powering through everything there would be a lot of people with broken wrists if you need to do heavy duty auger digging, maybe look into a skid steer mounted auger

These things and drill augers are fine if you're drilling in an already amended bed with fluffy soil. I have a giant Ryobi brushless earth auger but even that thing will damn near break you in our rocky clay soil. Although it is nice for dropping plants into existing beds.

I wish it could store the removed soil. That way you could put your weed barrier down, drill a hole, drop in a bulb, then reverse the drill to place the soil back on top of the bulb without leaving any mess on top of your weed barrier

Thanks for your review. The composite driveway material you show in this video is very similar to the natural hardened clay soil we have here in the Arizona desert, called caliche [pronounced "kah-LEE-chay."] That stuff is brutal to deal using just a hand shovel. I've now got the Rotoshovel on my short list.

People complaining about this and that don't understand who this is for. This is for an old person or a person who doesn't hsve power tools. It's for people who don't have a familiarity with properly handling power tools. It's easy to tell people to turn down the clutch, but to them that means setting it to 1 and then it doesn't work. This thing automatically cuts out when it locks up on a rock. The shovel helps keep itself braced soel the user isn't bearing the brunt of the twisting force. This is the kind of thing I'd buy my mom. I agree with another user that having it on a stick would be nice so you don't have to bend down.

Our home is in the "Land of the Potato Rock" - Rhode Island. Usually digging holes involves using an 80 pound iron digging bar to chunk the potato rocks loose to where a shovel can take over until a hole is open enough to prep it for planting. I just don't think this tool would have much capability here. Looks interesting, however.

I definitely see some use in this tool...However, I can think of one main advantage of using an auger bit on a drill over this tool. That is, when, and there will be a when, the battery on this tool dies, I could imagine a time where either this company is out of business or the tool is no longer available. These two scenarios would render this tool useless because of no power source replacement. I believe that I still would be able to get batteries for my Milwaukee drill....lol ...maybe...Great video as always!...Thank you!..Paul

Oddly, the rotoshovel might be better if it were a bit smaller. Then it would have a huge weight and ergo advantage over cordless drills equipped with augers. At this size, a drill with a side handle seems like the much better choice.

That's dead in clay. You'd have to irrigate the clay and the wet will kill it even faster. Not gonna use this trenchung that's for sure. Nor post holes. Now: would I use this for a typical hole in loose garden soil to plant, say, faster? Also no. I can open a 6 inch deep 4 inch hole in less than 12 seconds. I'm not gonna even give this a try even when I'm planting municipal property beds with 100s of plants.

Interesting tool, but I won't buy it over an auger because I can just spend $20 on a decent auger bit and use it in my Dewalt drill or impact driver and not have an additional tool with a proprietary battery and charger. If I had invented this, I would have tried to license it to Dewalt or Milwaukee or Ryobi rather than build something proprietary.

This is a spam vid. Kinda disappointing coming from Silver Cymbal. You can put the augur bit on a drill with a clutch or even a screwgun that'll turn off automatically and won't break your wrist. This is $100 for a total piece of crap drill and proprietary battery attached to an overpriced augur. Get real, and go back to doing consumer awareness/advocate content and product reviews from that approach instead of affiliate marketing crap.
